Tuzar Skipper fan club.... fyi

So if the FO thinks Skipper is that bad, why was he on the Steelers regular season roster to begin with???

He is a project. They signed a guy they feel can step in and play who will make fewer mistakes.

So Tomlin doesn’t like the depth at OLB, Chickillo will probably be off the team soon, he liked Skipper enough to 53 him a few weeks ago, he comes available at basically 0 risk or cost, and we don’t even claim him? What kind of trolling is this

Valid points. The answer seems to be they view Jayrone Elliott to be the better fooball player who can help them now. Chickillo's status is still in the air. If he were to be cut, they can always sign Skipper off the Giants PS at a later stage, if they even consider him an option. They seem to have heavily discounted Skipper's pre-season highlights vs backups and also-rans, and simply don't have the same view of him a lot of fans do. At the end of the day he's a small school, undrafted LB who just went unclaimed by 31 other teams. I enjoyed watching Skipper on the field, loved his energy and gusto. He's the perfect practice squad type guy to develop down the line. We have another one of those in Ulysess Gilbert. In some ways Ola Adeniyi is in the same boat, a young, unproven LB. Who knows, maybe Skipper ends up back with us at some point. But I don't think he warrants the type of huffing & puffing and adulation that's been connected to him. But who knows, maybe he'll end up being a Greg Lloyd, Joey Porter, Deebo-level player. For now, he's nothing close to that, just another practice squad guy trying to work his way into the league.

Yeap they gambled he would end up in a practice squad and they nailed it. He can be picked anytime if chick ends up cut

Not nearly as cool a name as Tuzar. Who in the world names their kid Tuzar? He may be the only guy named Tuzar in all of America. I love it!

After clearing waivers, Skipper is on his way back to East Rutherford, where he’ll take the practice field on Thursday after being re-signed to the Giants’ practice squad.

Re-signed to Giants practice squad per Giants Wire, but if we want him then sign him to the 53. They're obviously not interested.

I want SKIPPER to be the CAPTAIN of the defense

You will have to settle for hm being captain of the Minnow, he had that moniker for a long long time.

Just a lot less talented.

:bump2:

It feels like him being on the roster at all was just to pacify fans clamoring for him to get a chance... it isn’t the first time this has happened... i truly think it’s really hard for multiple training camp sensations to displace vets in a given year... ulysses making it pretty much was the limit for surprise talents this year

And he has had his struggles on special teams. Definitely not easy for rookies.

What I don't understand is why keep garbage like Paxton Lynch on the 53 man roster when he won;t be active on game days and we can put him on the PS. We are shorthanded on OLB and Elliott is not a good pass rusher yet he stays and Skipper who shows both bend and counter moves is not here, strange.

Likely because MR is susceptible to concussion on a lesser hit. They need to see him take a few hits I would think. Moving him to ps now is risky given injuries on other teams. I suspect after Miami we may see a move with lynch.

Good point

I realize the reality of the situation but I really like that kid.

He has shown a lot more than Ola who has been invisible when he pass rushed this year bit the infatuation with Ola being a James Harrison clone has clouded the reality that he is a short small OLB without the freakish strength or bend that James had. Skipper has more athleticism, size, bend and talent than Ola but Ola knows the system, rolling me eys. Oh and Skipper actually has a sack in a real NFL game unlike Ola.

Skipper's problem is he doesn't play special teams. That really is the biggest factor that gets the last few guys on the roster.

Yet he loves to play special teams played them in college and excelled on them in the last preseason game when he got a chance to play them. Funny but Villanueva, Hilton and Nix were all cut by multiple teams before finding their way to the Steelers Sometimes the front offices and coaching staff don;t see what even a casual fan can see.
