White House official sues Politico, targets Schiff’s role in impeachment

Kash Patel, the National Security Council’s senior counterterrorism director, is seeking more than $25 million in damages in the suit filed in Virginia.

The lawsuit also names Natasha Bertrand, a Politico reporter and MSNBC contributor, as well as Politico owner Robert Allbritton. The allegations, which center on what the president was told about the situation in Ukraine, go to the heart of the case for impeachment.

While Politico is the nominal target of the suit, it represents an aggressive attempt by a presidential aide to put Adam Schiff’s handling of the impeachment inquiry itself on trial.

Describing the Democratic chairman of the House Intelligence Committee as “a demagogue with an ax to grind against the president,” Patel portrays Schiff as running roughshod over rules and interviewing witnesses “to create click-bait headlines and soundbites to feed to his co-conspirators and media sympathizers.”

McConnell 'Can't Imagine A Scenario' In Which Senate Removes Trump

Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-Ky.) said Monday that he can't envision any scenario in which the GOP-controlled Senate would vote to remove President Trump from office.

“I can’t imagine a scenario under which President Trump would be removed from office with 67 votes in the Senate," McConnell told reporters in Kentucky, USA Today reported.

Rebuking House Democrats for "Trump derangement syndrome," he also argued that the impeachment effort would take up time that the Senate should be using for important legislative business.

"Nothing is happening because House Democrats seized with Trump derangement syndrome are consumed with this argument with the president," McConnell said.

Republicans aren't allowed to call their own witnesses, can't ask Dem witnesses their own questions and get repeatedly silenced by Schitt. This whole thing is a hoax, farce, scam, witch hunt and is treasonous. Meanwhile, they ignore the actual crimes committed by the Bidens. Pathetic.

lol everything is done exactly as mandated by rules enacted by the GOP a few years back. The definition of ‘by the book.’ Thus all Jordan, Nunes and the hysterical GOP clown posse has left, is to cry & whine.

This is good. This is where they should have started. Not a bunch of people who heard from this guy or that guy's acquaintance. If you have no direct knowledge, how can you be considered credible? Like the former ambassador. What was she in there for? She was fired before any of this took place.

Still, I don't think any of this is an impeachable offense. Or even an offense. It's called leverage. Taxpayer dollars to foreign governments are not charity. And the President absolutely has the right to investigate and root out corruption. I wonder if the President had asked for information on, say, Mitch McConnel for the very same reasons if there would be such an outcry. Forgive me if I have my doubts.

Anyway, I don't think this makes it past the Senate. This is about trying to make Trump unelectable. Might work, might not. I guess, we'll see.

Republicans also do stupid things in Congress. So you are saying that makes the process right? I am quite sure the Republicans never abused the system quite like this. Tibs you can't tell me that Schiff is anything but a partisan hack and a disgusting one at that no matter how you fell about the Republicans. This whole process is nothing but a sham.

Adam Schiff is making a mockery of our Republic. Hate and anger over an election are not reasons to impeach.

Is it a conspiracy when the person in question is on video bragging about the whole thing? Are you willfully ignoring that? How is your book coming?
 
Here's what I'm hoping for, that this inquiry results in a big nothing, similarly want the Barr investigation to produce the same non results.

An atmosphere of mutually insured destruction falls down over Washington, and these *** hats get back to what we're paying them to do.

Oh, and mandatory retirement ages and term limits. Too much to ask?

Oh, but you do. You have virtually no actual evidence that Trump did anything illegal in discussing a Ukrainian investigation of American political corruption. (Again, as the foreign policy leader in the country, it is the president's privilege to discuss unethical behavior of American representatives in foreign affairs.) Congress CERTAINLY did the same thing when they beat the bushes in virtually every country on the planet asking for evidence of the dreaded "collusion". ALL the democrats are truthfully concerned about here (and probably quite a few republicans too) is primarily that Trump is pursuing and exposing the mechanism by which corrupt politicians acquire their wealth and power. NO congressional member, house or senate wants THAT information exposed to the American public because it could lead to a massive outing of the slime and muck that is American politics.

The impeachment serves two purposes. They must protect their ***** and they must get rid of the guy who is constantly threatening their very way of life. Exposing the Hunter Biden sweet-ride may be the most important political move in recent American history, particularly if it actually goes the distance and ends up with indictments or real consequences for Joe Biden. That would cataclysmic for member of the house and senate who would begin to very seriously fear that THEIR side-deals and scandals may begin to be exposed.

Hell, champion of the downtrodden and unappreciated Ocassio-Cortez has a ton of questions about her campaign finance uses and she's already gone with the congress fat 'n happy's and asked for a pay raise. Even the so-called champion of the little people is showing signs of being corrupt, sleazy and self-serving.

congress CAN'T have Trump continue. This Hunter Biden thing is really really huge. It's a full on "to the mattresses" fight.
 
I hope when this is all over, that the whole corrupt apparatus that is our federal government comes crashing down. Everyone knows it's dirty. Reset.
