Where are all the comments about time for Ben to fade away

I'm not ******** on Hodges. I'm happy to be delusional about this team for another week. But almost certainly what I think we will learn if he is inserted as the starter is that it is part the play of the QBs and a lot to do with the play calling. The reality is they are trying to run a Ben offense based around a rookie QB. They are doing ZERO to help these guys. Hodges threw a great deep ball to Washington and that saved the game. His numbers otherwise were pretty much same old same old.
Not with this defense. If Ben were healthy, the only loss we'd more than likely have was at NE.The best they were going to do even with Ben was 10-6 and a wildcard playoff loss. It's simply Tomlin's ceiling.
Problem is we wouldn't have Fitz with a healthy Ben. The circumstance helped the D ironically improve. Not with this defense. If Ben were healthy, the only loss we'd more than likely have was at NE.

How do you know? With or without Ben the D needed help there, hell with a healthy Ben it makes even more sense to make that trade.Problem is we wouldn't have Fitz with a healthy Ben. The circumstance helped the D ironically improve.

I think he’s a second year QB. Nothing more, nothing less. I do agree with Tomlin for putting in Duck, as right now he gives us the best opportunity to win. But Duck doesn’t have a high ceiling himself. I think Rudolph has the physical attributes to become a good qb, but his decision making is atrocious right now. Duck steps UP into the pocket and throws the receiver open. Rudolph has happy feet and I see that resulting in late or arrant throws.
Ben is coming back next year and by all accounts we should have a top 5 defense and a young receiving group with another year under their belts. I’ll judge Rudolph after 2021 when Ben retires.

I'd take a healthy Ben over Minkah

Nothing to do with it making sense for the Steelers to make the trade, it had to do with who the Dolphins were willing to make the trade with. At the time it sure looked like our teams number one pick was very attractive with Ben down. The Dolphins saw it as a opportunity to get a top ten pick, perhaps even a top five. With Ben in the equation it is highly likely they wouldn't have viewed the pick in the same manner. See it had everything with the Dolphins desire to get the best first they possibility could. Which more than likely Mink would be in another uniform as a result.

Here is the list of the teams that were in the running. Odds were greatly in the Steelers favor how they looked coming out of the gates with Ben on the shelf. ....Good point! You’re probably right that they would have had zero interest in dealing with us. They’re probably even kicking themselves for the deal now.

Minkah Fitzpatrick trade likely to be wrapped up by tomorrow. The Dolphins expected to get 1st round value for him. Hearing WSH, DAL, KC, PIT, PHI and SEA all in the mix. Offers are being made

Maybe no other team wanted to deal away their 1st round pick, but us. They traded Tunsil to Houston with a healthy Watson, there was no chance at Houston's pick being a top 5 or top 10, especially in that division and they still made that trade.

I read an article or heard on the radio that at least 3 teams were willing to give a first round pick for him. Miami took the Steelers because they believed it would net them the highest first rounder.
That's very possible, but we'll never know, and we'll never know who the other 2 teams were, maybe they were KC and Seattle, so even with a healthy Ben they would think our 1st would be higher than those two teams.
Either way, I'd take a healthy Ben over Minkah any day though.
Why would you take a healthy Ben who only has a couple seasons left over Minkah who could solidify the backend of the D for another 7+ years.

We wouldn't win the SB with Ben and all the injuries we have this year.
I'll take Minkah and see where the chips fall next season with Ben.
