Trading Tomlin makes sense

Another name who would be a great short term HC would be to snag Kubiak from the Vikings. Now there is a HC who could get BigBen/Steelers over the hump.

Fellas,

1 ) The Steelers under coach Tomlin have not won a playoff game in 4 years. 2016 is our last playoff win. We are approaching 2020. OUCH.

2 ) Tomlin is 3-6 in his last nine playoff games. Should the Steelers make the playoffs, the odds say he'll be 3-7.

Neither of the above points are knee jerk reactions. These are long term studies. 4 years and no playoff wins? 10 playoff games over a period of time and 3-6 for now, possibly 3-7 in a few weeks?

Let's be honest here none of your studies are long term. They usually go no longer than a youtube highlight fella.

We all know Tomlin's downfalls the fans who like him and dislike him.

But thanks for bringing the knowns up yet again.

Did you know the earth is round? news at 11.

4 years isn't short. Coaches get fired in less than 4 years these days. The 9 playoff games I'm talking about happened long time. I'll let you figure out when I started the count. Then you can tell me if that date wasn't a long time ago.

Your inability to grasp basic data amuses me.

If I said the Steelers will be 3-6 in their next 9 playoff games and NOT win a playoff game in the next four years, most Tomlin backers would say if that happens, we need to move on. Well, that in all likelihood just happened...but one number if we make the playoffs will change. 3-7 in his last ten playoff games.

I grasp everything just fine , let us see if you grasp the simplistic.

Steelers will not fire a coach that is without a losing season.

We know the Steelers aren't your run of the mill franchise, they do things their way. So what coaches get fired in certain situations elsewhere doesn't apply here.

Just not the Rooney way.

There are no Tomlin backers left, just people with enough logic to know the Rooneys aren't firing him, the only way would be for him to want to leave

Tomlin's shortcomings aside, even if they get in, the Steelers are not going to win a playoff game with a bunch of backups and PS players on offense. Tomlin has gone one-and-done with better teams than this. :ranger:

Arguably some of the most talent laden in the NFL and zip, nottA, e’lzero, noA, so although I’d love a PO run, my clairvoyance doesn’t see that happening.

Yeah, very few Tomlin supporters left on our site but we all know he’s not going anywhere unless it’s his decision. I think Litos said it well.
I think it’s just wishful thinking on most of our parts and lots of guys providing what if scenarios. You know, simulations, if this happens we could do this and that, but we know he’s not going anywhere. At least until he knows Ben is done then I could see him wanting to leave.

Yes... I think they give him another extension and he is back next year, then if he hasn’t won by Ben’s retirement he leaves too... he will say he is retiring but coach somewhere else shortly after.... it’s basically going to mirror nolls end...

That’s assuming he doesn’t start winning in the playoffs, which is probably the best result for everyone save the pure haters...

He got a one year extension last summer which I think gives him two more years and I think Ben has two more years on his contract.

That will give him time to load this team up and then when we get the new HC and 12 years later we Cana rogue he only won with Tomlin's players.

HCMT signed through 2021.
Big Ben is through 2021.
Colbert has gone year to year so he can retire on his terms.

I always thought Cowher would come back and do something in the front office.

In two years when Ben, Pouncey ETC.. all leave there won't be a lot of winning with Tomlin's players. They'll be left with Rudolph, no OL and no real RB. Defense will have Hayward, Haden, Williams, and Barron almost 33 years old and Alualu will be going on 35.

Whoever comes in will be doing a lot of rebuilding especially on the offensive side.

Yup. It is going to be ugly for a while which is why I am hoping for one last big run with Ben.

The only good thing I guess to come out of the season we had was Tomlin at least one point drove up bus value as a coach.

Yes, the Steeler's FO will have very effectively wasted the entire 2nd half of Ben's career on that POS! I wish I could remove my fandom from this team and pick another to root for until Rooney either dies off or grows a decent pair of balls to do what's right for this organization! But, who's to say the next dumb-*** Rooney in line will be any better.

The Steelers should have booted him seasons ago.
