The Coronavirus thread

I just don't find wearing a mask when going into a business to help contain a disease to be that much of an issue or an infringement on freedom.

I would agree in ways, but don't in others. To many, the mask is another in a long line of Nanny-state grabs at our individualism or freedoms. The new scariest phrase beyond "I'm with the Government and I'm here to help" is "In the name of public safety." That phrase has allowed governments at all levels to bypass constitutional rights, freedoms and or to wield power we've not before seen.

After the Boston Bombings, "in the name of public safety" martial law was essentially instituted as they hunted the two teens.

"In the name of public safety" everything associated with the lockdowns this year -
facemasks
states shutting down
businesses being arbitrarily closed
fines being instituted on the People for not wearing masks
fines for people being out in public
fines for people re-opening their businesses
mothers being arrested for taking their children to public parks
prisoners let out of prison (who many of which immediately committed new crimes)
transportation being shut down

The mask is just a part of the slippery slope we've seen growing.

Also, to many, the idea of herd immunity (this includes medical professionals) is important. The more we slow the spread of the virus, the more we slow herd immunity developing.

That's racists. You mean the respect not to kill untold millions in China during WWII? How about the respect of Pol Pot? Oh you just mean respect to do what they are told by governments that are known to kill by the millions.. got it.

How much respect for the rest of the world did the Chicoms or Chinese people have in foisting this upon us?

Why are Americans always the ones demonized?

Like somebody said, there's such a lack of serious racism that the media give us Smollet and Bubba Gump.

People just have to get to the point where that is apparent.

I honestly don't have a problem wearing a mask in businesses that I frequent. What I do have a problem with is the media hysterically acting like this virus will kill everyone if we don't comply to the agenda they are pushing.
Everything is a negative narrative, and nothing reported on the number of recoveries and survival rates. Even with a vaccine, that I'm sure won't be found until after the election, this virus, like all others, isn't going to disappear.

I totally agree that the danger of the virus to most of us is way overhyped. I just think covering my face with a piece of cloth is an extremely easy thing to do and even if it only helps a little, I don't think it's the "But my freedoms!" hill to die on

It finally happened. One of my best friends and his wife got the chinese funk. First people I've known that contracted it. Haven't seen them in 12 days, so we are probably ok. They are young and have no kids yet. I talked to my buddy...he sounds freaking horrible.

Their symptoms are; No sense of taste, super high fevers, shortness of breath and diarrhea...sounds pleasant.

It's crazy how wildly different the symptoms are from person to person. I talked to someone that said when they had it they had a minor headache for part of one day....and that's it. Some people get knocked off their feet and some people don't even know they have it.

And nothing of the mass shoulder to shoulder protests? You're honing in on businesses and private gatherings while the hordes are amassing a mass bioweapon in 60+ US cities by the same logic.

The protests and media reaction revealed the farce for all to see. The freedom-robbing double standards at work.

Why are young beach-goers shamed for an "outdoor activity," while antifa and rent-a-mobs are not?

Inquiring minds want to know..

I don't believe the virus didn't spread during protests, do you? The age group that is currently being infected would suggest it did. Is the media full of **** for trying to claim it didn't spread during the protests? Of course. Does that mean masks don't help and therefore shouldn't be worn? No.

The media wasn't saying "You don't need a mask if you're protesting." They urged protesters to wear masks and some did.

And once again, outdoors is different...both in the case of beachgoers and protesters. The virus diffuses with ventilation and more quickly dies in sunlight. Hence you do not see the large clusters in either group that we are seeing from bars and indoor parties.

With everything being politicized we have to use our brains to separate fact from fiction. Once again, covering your face limits how far you spew. That is common sense. There is simply no argument to refute that. The scientists' and media's inconsistent messaging on mask wearing don't refute that. When you are able to, let me know.

Masks are not foolproof 100% protection. Nothing is. The virus is going to spread. The idea is to slow it down and it makes logical sense that the less virus swirling around in the air, the slower the spread.

Masks provide the false level of protection to the uneducated. Does any level of “face covering” help prevent the spread of any virus when someone is sneezing and coughing. Yes. I don’t know about anyone else, I’m not seeing that when I go to the store, the pool, the bar. Etc. sick ***** are staying home now as they were not before.

**** I have allergies bad. It’s like me trying to hold back a nutt when I’m out to prevent that sneeze. But ICS that’s the point you could have it. No no, not if you believe the recent WHO where asymptotic folks can’t shed it. (Which I don’t).

I stand firm, masks are not complete bs but for when someone is ill expelling fluids (Gigidi). Hand washing is the most critical today.

How in the world did you get ANY of that out of my interpretation of respect? You're smarter than that, Vadar.

Obviously your idea of "respect" is different than mine. You painted with a broad brush. Most Asian cultures (there isn't just one) have respect for some things like the elderly. However, history has shown they care little for outsiders and even slaughter their own at times... hence my post.

You know, I’ve been told wearing a condom can prevent a variety of unwanted things. I think this should be mandated by the govt.

If you could get people pregnant by breathing on them I think we'd all be walking around wearing masks.

How much respect for the rest of the world did the Chicoms or Chinese people have in foisting this upon us?

Considering that they banned people from Wuhan from traveling anywhere in China but let them travel anywhere else in the world, not much.

Scumbags. That's the commie way. We will eventually have it out with them one way or another. Given the stance of some of our west coast states they'd welcome them with open arms at first ,until the chinese started executing them.

The Japanese extreme brutality to our pows is not at all that respectful. We had to drop 2 nukes on those crazy ******** because they refused to surrender after the first.

Maybe they've mellowed, but i don't live their land and probably will never set foot in that country before my time here is done.

Anyhow this slowing covid stuff is damn near a lost cause at this point. Not with oh 30 million or so having it.

So after our mandatory testing we are starting to get results in. We have 2 residents and a contractor test positive. All 3 have 0 symptoms and were in the same testing batch. I am thinking they are false positives. I was tested Tuesday so am i should get my results today. Our tests were a type nasal swab, but it only went in the nose a bit so i am not sure how accurate they are.

That **** needs shoved to the back of your brain. It needs to go all the way up, and twisted a couple times. If they only put the tip in, you may want another one

Indianapolis Mayor Hogshitt issued a mask order for Marion County.

Here is the info from the Allegheny County Health Department...

Another 10,200 something positive tests today. Right near 170,000 confirmed cases. So it's safe to say we've had millions with it or had it. A positive outlook for the antibodies and the end of this bs in the future.

I'm trying to have the best outlook on this as possible.

On the flip side I'm still pissed at China.

This is a different style i forget what it is called exactly. I came back negative. The 2 residents who tested positive both have UTIs and are on the same meds...

The total number infected is irrelevant. Hospitalizations and death rates are what we should be looking at right now. Fact is that the younger people are getting it now. Plus you have more testing so you're going to get more cases. Cases aren't the concern. People should walk away from the cliff and understand this isn't the end of the world.
