Marshawn Lynch after eating Cheetos and Taco Bell for the last 10 months would gain more yards per carry than anyone on our roster. Tomlin would never do it, but at this point, why not explore retired proven playmakers instead of activating scrubs from the practice squad??

I think your "Beast Mode" would be so far out of "football" shape he would be a detriment to the team. Pass unless he is way more healthy / ready than most would think.

And yes I’m all for letting Deebo come back and push the **** out of the right side of opponents line...

I think he’d be good for 10-15 solid carries. I advocated for Fournette at the beginning of the season on this board and no one was having it. Our backfield is probably the worst in the NFL and it will be the demise of the team. Love Conner as a person but having watched him every game he’s played, he no longer has any burst through the hole and the majority of his yards are from splash plays.

I really think it’s because of the short pass plays - everyone is playing us up close and crowding the line - there is no where to run.

At the beginning of the year they were unsure of Ben and his arm that they played normal defense but since we don’t really throw down field or even the middle grounds - the defense just crowds the short routes

He has said he is in great shape but would only go to a team with a legit shot at winning the SB. I'd kick the tires. Dude has always been able to get a yard when needed. If he's in great shape, kick the tires and get him in here.

I've always agreed with kicking tires and see what is there but until the play calling and different passing scheme is attached,.... YOU could have Barry / Earl / Walter / Franco all in their prime and still not gain a yard.

Lynch is 34 years old, so obviously he's not a long term solution. But can he be the solution for now? I'd give him a workout and medical to see what he has left.

Beast mode one more time for the playoffs?

Yes, our running game is a desperate situation. Beginning of the year, the o-line was healthy and opening big lanes. Also; Conner was running really hard. He’s obviously not 100% healthy...

I don't know. I don't trust any of our backs to get yard when needed. he knows what it takes and hits it quick. it won't cost much and he'd be better than most of our RB's as well. Short term help.

he cant do worse then snell short yardage

I advocated for Fournette at the beginning of the season on this board and no one was having it.

Fournette's been bad this season. 69 carries, 271 yards, 3.9 YPC. I believe he was a healthy scratch last week. Played in 9 games and only averaged over 4 YPC in two of them. Average was below 3.5 YPC in the other 7. I suppose he'd fit right into the unproductive backfield we already have.

I'm for bringing anyone in to help this team prosper, but he has to be an asset, not a distraction.

Yeah there's gotta be a few young, hungry RBs out there that are in actual playing shape. But Benny Snell has shown he can move the chains when the OL actually blocks. Need some depth behind him though.

it does go hand in hand, if the OL doesn't block or open holes, Lynch, Snell, Connor or Barry Sanders won't matter.

Fournette was injured and when he came back Ronald Jones was lighting it up. He was only getting a few carries here and there like Snell gets. Jones is probably out this week so Fournette very well may get the start. Although they do still have McCoy on their roster so they may share duties. Fournette may have been upset or pissed someone off to not get a jersey as he had been their No. 2 with Jones as the lead back. Fournette probably thought he was going to be the starter (as was Tampa's original plan) until he got injured right away.

Barry Sanders may do well with our let 3 guys in the backfield OL. That guy had a ton of ****** lines in his career and still made people look ******* stupid. Poor Rod Woodson tore his ACL trying to tackle that pinball wizard.

Its the same thing that happened last Year with Rudolph... people played him for the deep ball he was known for in college.. and he had early success with the dink and dunk... then they took away the dinks and the offense never ever adjusted Same with duck in a slightly different format... and we constantly blamed the qb for that last year... a year later... ben is back and the offense looks virtually the same ... low ypa... the run game dried up as the year progressed...
