The Coronavirus thread

Good to know we can start trusting the CDC again, now that the Liar-in-Chief and his MAGA myrmidons have been swept out.

The CDC has identified a range of misleading and otherwise false messaging on the coronavirus pandemic as part of an effort to rebuild public trust after former President Donald Trump’s administration seemingly used the federal agency to push misinformation about the virus.

The irony of Liberals pushing Americans to trust the Federal Government is lost on no one.

So wait a minute. Just want to make sure I have this straight. The CDC had these documents in it's possession since the Trump administration apparently manufactured them sometime in September of last year. They are just now getting around to removing such documents seven months later, even though they are patently false? OK. I'm certain it has little to do with Biden and Harris going around the country trying to sell their aid package and push to get people to get vaccinated.

You know why no one trusts the CDC? Because of the CDC. Their messaging on COVID has been all over the place. On top of that, they said it was ok for tens of thousands of people to be in the streets, in crowds, unmasked to protest, but people masked and social distanced in church had the potential to be a super spreader event. Whether it was Trump, the Democrat party, the media or any number of government agencies, this super duper deadly virus has been politicized and used as a cudgel to control people through fear. The CDC and further the federal government has no one to blame but themselves and their media buddies for the fact that no one trusts them. They made their own bed on this one.

I have a liberal friend who made the comment "At least Fauci won't be afraid to tell us the truth now that Trump is gone".

My response was "Isn't Fauci's responsibilty to the American people, and not the President? Why should we trust his message now, when he let politicians dictate it before? Just another government bureaucrat protecting his job."

My friend's response..."crickets"

Not quite accurate.

"I listened to him, but I didn't do what he said," former President Trump says of Dr. Fauci.

Back in the 80’s it was Fauci who was sounding the alert about the forthcoming heterosexual AIDS epidemic that never happened.

Not quite accurate.

And no surprise, you misstate evidence to support your anti-Trump obsession. What did the great and powerful Mask Man say about Trump and instituting safety measures regarding the Chinese flu?

Dr. Anthony Fauci says President Donald Trump listened to his initial recommendations to shut down the United States in an effort to slow spread of the coronavirus and that he isn’t being forced or asked to explain to the media that Trump had listened to his expert opinion then.

“The first and only time that Dr. [Deborah] Birx and I went in and formally made a recommendation to the president to actually have a shutdown in the sense of strong mitigation, we discussed it,” Fauci, 79, said. “Obviously there would be concerns by some, and in fact, that might have some negative consequences. Nonetheless, the president listened to the recommendation.”

Fauci, the nation’s leading expert on infectious disease, also said that Trump listened to him and Dr. Birx, the president’s coronavirus task force coordinator, when they recommended extending the U.S. shutdown another 30 days through the end of April.

A reporter asked if Fauci was explaining himself on his own volition.

“Everything I do is voluntary. Please, don’t even imply that,” Fauci replied.

So keep telling your lying lies, lying liar.

What a strange hill to want to die on Steeltime, but be my guest.

Listen to what Fauci said after Biden took over. Actually read or listen to his comments.

Instead of bombarding us with the usual overkill of graphs and charts and twisting of facts to try to prove your point, just listen to the man.

Believe it or not and its a sad commentary of the current state of the union....

And my next statement will be seen by some as out of touch with reality, unsympathetic to those who have died or suffered, somewhat paranoid, and with lack of faith in our country.....

But the United States of America has bigger problems than the corona virus.

Alright, let the cat out of the bag, which one is it?

White nationalism? Far-righters plotting to overthrow the government? Trump-MAGA's ties to Putin/Russia? Institutionalized racism? Rampant gun violence? Police brutality? Voter suppression and gerrymandering by the GOP? Global warming? White collar crime and corruption? Billionaires paying millionaires to lie to the public on Fox News?

So many to choose from, tough to pin down just a couple. I'd say COVID and its lingering effects is very much on the list, though thankfully we now have leadership in place to deal with the problem. (y)

pssss.. yes this post is in jest, try not to have an aneurysm, will ya?

But that’s not we are told? 🤔

This is an interview with Dr Kary Mullis, the man who invented the technology for the PCR virus test, which we use to test for Covid today. He won a Nobel prize for his work. However, he was also known for his experimentation with hallucinogens and his bizarre, unfounded, contrarian statements. This is what he said about Fauci decades ago.

FIFY

He did drugs. Must be bad. Or?

Psilocybin – best known as the hallucinogenic component of "magic mushrooms" – showed therapeutic benefits in three studies, including reduced anxiety and depression in patients with cancer and lasting improvement in symptoms of obsessive-compulsive disorder. Three studies of the anesthesia drug ketamine reported positive effects in patients with opioid use disorder, depression, and alcohol use disorder.

Other hallucinogenic drugs showing psychotherapeutic benefits included ayahuasca, an Amazonian botanical brew; ibogaine, a psychoactive alkaloid drug; and the synthetic drug MDMA (3,4-methylenedioxy-methamphetamine), commonly called "ecstasy." The FDA recently approved a phase 3 clinical trial of MDMA-assisted psychotherapy for post-traumatic stress disorder.
