Good Lord, here we go again with having to provide multiple sources to "never wrong" (but always wrong Floggy).

Alabama has a population issue that is well documented. An aging population, and a lower than necessary birth rate that has dropped over 50 years. They are soon to pass the threshold of having enough births to outweigh deaths.

Alabama’s fertility rate has fallen significantly since 2007...Data from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention shows the general fertility rate in Alabama was 61.7 births per 1,000 women in 2019, down from 67.6 in 2007.



But Alabama’s fertility rate is still low. Its total fertility rate was 1.8 births per woman in 2018, according to the CDC. That’s below an important threshold known as “replacement level fertility.” That’s the total fertility rate needed to exactly replace a population from generation to generation. In the U.S., that rate is just below 2.1 births per mother. In 2018, only South Dakota met that threshold.

That means people in Alabama and across the U.S. (and the world) are not having enough babies to replace its current population totals.

For now, Alabama’s migration numbers are proving enough to offset declining fertility and natural population increase. But like much of the nation and world, its low fertility and rising age could create problems going forward.

Alabama’s birth rate is roughly comparable to the nation as a whole — during the year, Alabama had 11.7 births per 1,000 people, vs. about 11.8 per 1,000 for the United States. But the state also had the second-highest rate of death in the country last year, reporting 10.9 deaths per 1,000 people vs. 8.6 for the nation, possibly a reflection of an aging population.

All you have to do is pull up the census data to see tge reverse pyramid that is going on, but that isn’t covid specific… the five year numbers for population should be smaller at the top and larger at the base for a healthy population… we have a very small base that is shrinking every new estimate… id completely buy the 4% shrink, but thats a bigger issue than covid alone… we aren’t repopulating well…

I am the same. Got it in March when this popped off. Rough but body did it job. I go to the gym, bars, restaurants etc. no mask nothing. fine. I bet I got it again but since I’m not testing myself left and right. Ehh

We been trying to tell people this. But the Left has turned natural immunity into a four letter word.

Name one place the vaccines ended the pandemic?

I know this is a political battle for you and the conservatives here, but the reality is that there are serious serious concerns about the effects of the vaccines… some reproductive issues, some chronic health issues and a handful of rare terminal issues, all of which were known problems for the type of vaccination they are trying to achieve long before covid was a thing… there is a real reason that while always hyped as the future, mrna treatments and direct dna methods like india is doing have never been successful… and viral vector has been tried and moved on from…

i get that the libs just want to oppose all the Conservatives, but the most logical reserved concerns aren’t being shouted from drudge or fox or whatever other right wing bugaboo is out there.., its from apolitical and mostly foreign scientists that have absolute data they are drawing from….

This daily death count here makes me chuckle… those numbers are not actually aligned day by day, its just when they certify the death as linked or potentially linked to covid… 2000 people could die the same day and it could be stretched out over a month or more… 20 people could die every day for a month and half of them maybe counted all on the same day depending on autopsy and investigation results …

Ive posted several articles that explain in great technical detail exactly how some of the long term concerns can medically happen… not some buzzfeed factcheck from an English major … actual peer checked and published science from phds. Some from pre covid when none of this was political…

Long term health effects are a real concern… if you leave covid run unchecked it makes absolutely no impact on long term population… if you immunize the country and it has even a small percentage of significant long term effects, it can literally disable the population in a really bad way..

And whatever real or perceived doubts you have of the vaccine, the fact Covid has killed more folks in America than the deadly 1918 pandemic should be front and center in this debate.

But it hasn't. Not really. The impact we are seeing here in America stems mostly from the fact that we are an unhealthy society. We have become addicted to processed foods to the point that we have major issues with obesity, diabetes, high blood pressure, heart disease and a litany of other health issues. Hell, we encourage morbidly obese people that you're ok, and anyone that says different is a bigot, because that's just the way you are, can't do anything about it. Yeah, that helps.

I think if we're being honest, and this debate over covid rarely ever is, you'll find that FAR more people that have died with COVID also had some type of comorbidity than those that died of covid that were otherwise healthy. Not to mention the people that died in a car wreck but tested positive for covid at autopsy and therefore declared a covid death. I'd LOVE to see that number, but we never will.

The data is hard to find, but it's out there. Covid-19 is pretty bad, but you'll never convince me that these numbers haven't been juiced, aren't currently being juiced and won't continue to be juiced. I'm not 100% sure what the end game is for this politically, because at this point it is 150% political for just about everyone, but I don't think it's going to have the outcome you want.
