I completely agree that Tomlin has screwed up the QB situation. How can anyone argue otherwise? But he isn't the only coach to ever do that, and we have 2 examples with the Steelers to show that. It seems so many here seem to think Tomlin is the first guy to screw this up.
I used Cowher as an example. Then the typical response is he won playoff games and went to the Super Bowl with average QBs before Ben, and that's true. But there is a bit of 20/20 rearview vision going on with this. I remember this place in late January of 2005. Nobody then wanted to hear those arguments. It was, overwhelmingly, if Cowher hadn't won it by this time, he never will. Nobody gave a damn about getting close and that's how it should be. I don't give a shiit of Tomlin makes the playoffs and wins a playoff game or two. If you get that far, you gotta take it home, or it means nothing. Maybe in the past it didn't, you could see a team building to something, but with the way the game is today with player movement, every year is almost a stand alone.
