1st 3rd Round Pick allar

Dulac also said they wouldn’t draft Aller either;
Dulac is clueless this year cause it’s a new coach. He doesn’t know.
I wouldn’t just limit it to this year.

😅

So a lot of college production talk here... college stats mean exactly squat when projecting NFL success.. many of the greatest college qbs were crap in the pros.

The takeaways from college play that seem to matter are more general.. their technique, their processing ability, how they handle pressure, playmaking in critical situation... some of that matters more than the measurables too... but some of it can be corrected or improved with proper coaching too if the player can absorb it...

Look Allar has the body and arm of a top 5 pick... he was available in the third cause every team was worred about what was between his ears...

I think Madden was right that the team will move on from Howard after camp and focus on Allar now, cause they think he can sit a couple years and then be fixed...

Well MikeyT was generally sooooo predictable in every way possible that it was easy to call what he would do before he did it…sadly that gave opposing teams a huge advantage as well as making “insiders” jobs shockingly easy.

Why the need to move on from Howard before he is ever even given a chance?

That seems VERY shortsighted.

Allar may take a couple years
Howard may steal the spot while Allar is developing
Allar may be ready quicker than a couple years

Right now they are both just huge maybes.

Zero reason to move on before we know what the players actually are made of.

If Madden said it there is a solid 10-20% chance he’s onto something.

I’ll roll with the other 80-90% and say no need to move on from Howard any time soon.

Penn State interim coach Terry Smith on Drew Allar. Right from the coach a few highlights -
the scheme did not fit Allar
Franklin handcuffed him
He never had a good WR

Not to be an *** (truly), but, what else was he supposed to say? If he bad mouths former players… good luck with recruiting

Big M didn’t show much magic in his prime. What leads you to believe that he possesses some QB whisperer acumen now? Is it because he’s 100 years old or weighs 600lbs?
You do realize that McCarthy is thought of as one of the best Quarterback coaches in NFL history... he made a nane for himself in the 90's by getting Journeyman backup Steve Bono to the pro bowl ( when it meant something) as a starter .., he went on to develop or refurb the careers of Aaron Brooks, Rich Gannon, Dak Prescott, and Aaron Rodgers.. he got Matt Flynn a 19 million dollar deal based on 5 starts and turned Cooper rush into a legit backup QB... that int even counting the work he did with Favre and Montanna.. who were already established

Listen to what these qbs say about McCarthy... they rave about him...

So the most important assistant coach on Penn State's staff throwing the old coaching staff under the bus is better?

Better than speaking poorly about a former PSU Player? Yes. Better for PSU AND better for recruiting. Talk **** about a player and recruits will take notice.

I remember knowing what for first play from scrimmage would be at our first game next season, while the last game of the season ended.

Never missed.

Man! Imagine if we don't get Aaron, no longer have Shades who gets the cheaters hc job, and we get two comp picks!

That would be great!

ADD in the out-right trade tab from the cheaters……… more likely a 1st and a 3rd.

PLUS them finishing 9-8 so upper round picks.

PS. If the Cheaters do bring in Tomlin, I hope like hella he gets to hire his own staff.!!!

I think it is kinda funny that people hate a mid third round pick that no one can deny has every physical trait you want from an franchise NFL QB. I remember the hate I got when we took baby hands check down at #21 overall. At least I was griping about a first round reach. Even if Allar is a reach at #76 where was he going to go? Top 90? Top 100? Top 120? I mean not that big of a reach comparatively speaking

So here's a fun questions. If you had to choose Ty Simpson at #21 (saying Rams don't select him and he's there) or Drew Allar at #76, who are you taking?
Allar. Easy

Just to throw this out there Allars projected RAS score was projected to be 7-8+. Cole Payton's actual RAS was 9.87 to 9.98. That puts Payton at worst 16th since 1987 and best at 4th. People seem obsessed with Allars physicals while dismissing Payton is much better athletically. If we were really going to swing for the fences I would have picked the freak athlete.

Because high degree athletes are the ones who succeed at QB? I look at RAS more for say an Olineman in comparison. Athletic is nice but I want those strong arm pure pocket passers…

I'm not a firm believer on drafting based on athleticism but people were touting Allar's physical traits as justification for him being thought of so highly. Im not sure if arm strength is factored into RAS or not, but it is listed as a strength for Payton. It might not be as strong as Allars but it is not weak. Payton's biggest issue seems to be mechanics, but I think his ceiling is much higher. I think he has Josh Allen potential.

Nobody from the former offensive coaching staff remained at Penn State, and several are now with Franklin at Virginia Tech. So why would it matter?

Your top assistant is willing to criticize your playcalling if hired at Penn State.

It was quite telling/embarrassing when my wife would call out plays before they happen.

My friends 9yr old son had a pretty high % rate as well.
