JJ isn't a fighter.
So? It would have helped solidify the team. Plus if he got hurt someone from WBS would have had a chance to take his spot..
JJ isn't a fighter.
Was anyone else nervous with the game coming to a close? Glad they hung the win tonight.
I figured when it was 3-2, and going into the 2nd intermission, it was over... Lucky they didn't give up another shorty tonight
Glad they got the W. Not glad players are dropping like flies. Only 2 goals given up and no short handed goals...man I hate those so bad.
Let's hope they can start a winning trend and become a complete cohesive team. Thank God they can't do anymore trades this year. That **** has been like shooting holes in your boat to fix a leak.
So Sully said Rust and Ruh will be out "longer term". I haven't seen an update on Letang or Dumo. Next man up ?
Disappointed Prow isn't likely to get a shot. The bad rap is that his skating and puck movement isn't NHL quality. I thought he has played pretty well at WBS. I would think Bluger will be back up and I think that is great news except at the expense of Rust,
Hornqvist gonna have some bad CTE
Another so called "pedigree" trade. Gudbranson was the 3rd overall pick in 2010. Since then he has never really played in even close to his draft status. Florida gave a better contract because he had one good season in 2014. He is is big, can fight but really hasn't. He did have a fight/wrestling match with Tom Wilson a year or two ago and held his own.
He isn't going to score, he has few assists and his advanced stats are horrible. Today his parting comments to Canuck Fans was " Sorry I wasn't better".
I'll give him a chance because sometimes change helps. If he's paired with Johnson , I may just hang myself.
He might have it already...he's forgotten how to score.
I have no idea what Rutherford was thinking with this deal, which reportedly began to be discussed several days BEFORE Letang and Dumo were injured.
Gudbranson played 139 games in Vancouver, and was a minus-48 while compiling a grand total of 19 points. He was a minus-49 the prior 5 years in Florida. I don't claim to follow or understand all the advanced metrics stats in hockey, but by all accounts, his numbers are horrendous across the board. All of this at the bargain price of $4 million a year, and a contract through 2021.
I hated when they traded Oleksiak back to the Stars. The guy played in 83 games with the Pens, and along with bringing a solid physical presence, had 8 goals, 17 assists, and was a +18 -- plenty respectable numbers for a mostly third-pair guy, in what basically equated to one full season.
This head-scratching acquisition of an inferior defenseman making almost twice as much money is even worse.
What confuses me is how Gudbranson, a number 3 overall pick can be so bad. Somewhere along the line, he had to have some skill. .Granted he played for some lousy teams but how the hell did he get to $4M a season. Even though he is statistically the worst Defenseman in the NHL I'll give him a chance. Not like I have a have a choice.
Olesiak never looked horrible to me and even added a little offense. I honestly feel he got traded back to Dallas because Tom Wilson knocked him out. This trade irritates me almost to the level of Cole and Reaves. Not to mention I have a #6 jersey that is useless.
Hopefully a change of scenery helps.
He fought little Tom Wilson and could've did some damage.
We need some tough guys in the room
