2025 preseason wk1 Steelers at Jags 8-9-25 7pm gameday thread

Rodgers doesn’t play - start him
Thompson plays well - move him to primary backup
Howard is hurt - keep him as QB3

Rudolph plays well - Trade him at all costs no matter what you get.

“The math ain’t mathin”
rudy is what he is..a so-so back up

let some other team pay him to hold a clipboard

I watched game , but was doing 10 other things also.
How did the 2 rookie dlinemen play? I do not recall there names mentioned

Totally unrelated but not worthy of starting a thread. Q. Which Steelers media/journalist annoys you the most. And I get most will say the controversial guys. But it's not even close for me it's Bob Labriola. He looks like someone who never had any place in the game whatsoever but acts so ****** superior to people. Whether it's his mail in stuff with his his sarcastic answers or like today reminding us it's just a pre-season game. No **** Bob. I don't think they should plan a parade. He clearly has his job because he is never going to ask a hard question ever. He ads zero. I realize he is an extension of the team but c'mon man. Missy Matthews at least kinda looks ok doing her job. Kinda.

No one on Dline did much. They built a couple walls and handled run mostly. Sawyer had two pressures but one was a free hitter. He got held twice no calls. Nothing Major from Harmon. But nothing bad either. Black is huge but didn't do much either. He certainly is a traditional nose.

Rudy couldn't beat any of the division teams twice but don't think he would lose twice either. He couldn't beat Bills or Lions. But he could help you win anything other game on that schedule.

He isn't playing nose he is playing end. Our line play was extremely vanilla and missing some key ingredients. Put TJ and Cam out there and the rookies get a whole lot less attention.

Well Id say the position of a Steelers Defensive lineman is determined by what tech he plays. But Black is a fatboy. His role in the real games will be to plug weak A on some first down and maybe short yardage.

We agree on a lot, but I think you are bit too harsh on Mason. Probably in reaction to Fords opposite reaction to him.
it has nothing to do with fordy's man crush

rudy throws a good deep ball but when the field tightens up and he is in the redzone...he is way more likely to throw a pick than a TD..

he is nothing special

I can't compare their Browns. They don't have a designated starter. The Ravens have Cooper Rush. The Bengals have Jake Browning. Who's doing better. And my guess is 3/4 of the conference is like that. Maybe more.

Reports from camp have him much more active than that and playing almost a Cam role at times.

was he? I dont remember him getting many touches. Not enough to remember any bad touches to be a liability.

liability may be a bit harsh, but it just feels like it was always a penalty or drop whenever you saw him.

I like Conner and truly hope he succeeds. I just think we saw a sizable step back from year 1 to 2.
