2025 UDFA thread

My free agent list

Nick Nash WR San Jose State 6'3 203 - played QB for 3 years before moving to WR.
Bru McCoy WR Tenn 6'3 209
DaQuon Felton WR Va Tech 6'5 213
Isaiah Neyor WR Neb 6'4 218

They could use a physical TE. I don't understand what Connor Heyward brings to the team
Luke Lachey TE Iowa 6'6 251 - he's an Iowa TE, always worth a look
CJ Dippre TE Alabama 6'5 256 - one of strongest players in the draft

Sebastian Castro S Iowa 5'11 203 very smart, played slot CB and S.
Cobee Bryant CB Kansas 6'0 180 - long arms, played mostly zone but is athletic.

I just mentioned Castro. I think an injury set him back from being drafted if I remember correctly.

Roc Taylor, WR, Memphis
D.J. Thomas Jones, TE, South Alabama
Sebastian Castro, S, Iowa
Aiden Williams, OG Minnesota/Duluth
Ben Sauls, K, Pitt
J.J. Galbreath, TE, South Dakota
*****Austin Brickman apparently signed with Houston and was mistakenly associated with the Steelers

So Roc Taylor really shows what they want out of an outside wr2... he has average (4.49) speed. He has a big frame, but is only 6-2 and isnt really exceptionally physically talented in any one area.. he is a Strong, physical, and intelligent wr who excels at blocking abd runs crisp routes... basically a good play action pass wr... that really is what they want in that role

Galbreath is interesting. Had a productive last year despite missing significant time with an injury.

I give him a fighting chance to stick. With Taylor and Castro darkhorses. Even Aiden could get stored on the PS . Nice depth addition..

Good route runner and is 50 /50 want to type.

Not like we have an all world WR corps. He will get his chance…

I mean I think he could displace Scotty Miller, but the rest are sort of locked in unless we trade for Lazard or someone else... CA3 is a lock as the top returner, they arent cutting bait on Roman Wilson before year two the final active wr is always a pure ST guy like Ben Skowronek. They dont always carry six wrs... but for now the only real opening is the 6th wr/inactive bench spot scotty miller is in and the PS emergency options...

Also Taylor is an outside only guy... so he wont displace the two slot guys... and he isnt taking either starting outside spot barring injuries

Pitt K Ben Sauls signing with #Steelers as a UDFA

Though BOZ has some BANG left in him, he is getting older. Always good to keep bringing in a younguN to keep him on. His toes.

PLUS if the BOZ is going to take peoples heads of wether in fighting or tackling, it’s always good to have someone in the system in case of an injury.

The Texans drafted Luke Lachey, they may have a problem with us bringing him in 🤣 but I like him too

They did have TE Gavin Bartholomew in for a visit and he’s a local kid- he may be on their radar.

An OL or 2 would be good- maybe Seth McLaughlin (played for Bama and OSU so some of that much loved pedigree there)

Totally agree with Nick Nash too, he was on my radar as a late round flyer

McLaughlin was signed by the Bungles. I was thinking the Steelers should have taken a flyer on him in the 7th then give him time to heal.

The other thing is if the kid shows any sort of promise, someone will probably have kicker issues by camp end and maybe you get a free conditional seventh out of him... or a player in an injury stricken position or something

So among the guys I wanted that signed elsewhere, the Chargers got Raheim Sanders. Guy was gonna be a 1st round RB before injuries sunk him. Since some RBs rebound a couple years after those kinds of injuries... he was worth a flyer just in case... because even without that breakaway speed he was still a solid average rb prospect

The other was OT Logan Brown who I think the Chiefs got... he was really raw but i think he would fit what we seem to want to do...

I want to see them bring in QB Brady Cook and a couple G’s

The Vikings signed Logan Brown. They also got Tyler Batty who I thought would've been a good pass rush prospect as well as Joe Huber, an OL from Wisconsin.
