I send containers of chemicals via cargo ships to Italy, Turkey, South Africa, Venezuela, and Columbia. They hold either 20 or 40 55-gallon drums (208 liters each, for you Euros) in each box. It's amazing that those ships can even stay afloat, let alone move quickly. someone on the destroyer was asleep at the wheel. There should have been plenty of warning.
Unless a craft is to small to be picked up by radar (non military guy so I don't know ****) I'd understand. But this.

To be fair I was thinking the same thing tibs said. Took a shower and cried, but then read that. I think the difference to what he was referring to and our comments was there was no reference/comment/attendance from BO - not immediately or days/weeks there after. I know I **** on BO for not attending seals going down and golfing and hold fast to that.
Here's my problem with the whole he didn't say ****. To whatever party. It's not about us, it's not about our party, our philosophy, it's about men/women who put themselves in harms way for us, all of us. They don't care about the political ****(again I'm guessing). It just burns me when we need to drop politics when our soldiers die. The whole my team vs your team needs to ducking stop. Are we not all Americans. So you don't like the team running it. Move on. At dinner today (Father's Day) my son postulated that the cargo ship may have been zig zagging to avoid detection by pirates because shipping lanes and routes are known. Then he proceeded to show me a webpage on his phone that showed hundreds of ships in that part of the world and what direction they are heading.

U.S. Navy Identifies 7 Deceased Fitzgerald Sailors
YOKOSUKA, Japan (NNS) - The remains of seven Sailors previously reported missing were located in flooded berthing compartments, after divers gained access to the spaces, June 18, that were damaged when the Arleigh Burke-class guided-missile destroyer USS Fitzgerald (DDG 62) was involved in a collision with the Philippine-flagged merchant vessel ACX Crystal.
The deceased are:
- Gunner’s Mate Seaman Dakota Kyle Rigsby, 19, from Palmyra, Virginia
- Yeoman 3rd Class Shingo Alexander Douglass, 25, from San Diego, California
- Sonar Technician 3rd Class Ngoc T Truong Huynh, 25, from Oakville, Connecticut
- Gunner’s Mate 2nd Class Noe Hernandez, 26, from Weslaco, Texas
- Fire Controlman 2nd Class Carlos Victor Ganzon Sibayan, 23, from Chula Vista, California
- Personnel Specialist 1st Class Xavier Alec Martin, 24, from Halethorpe, Maryland
- Fire Controlman 1st Class Gary Leo Rehm Jr., 37, from Elyria, Ohio
The incident is currently under investigation.
