Talks about the three edge rushers and how hard to keep three high-paid on one roster.

Talks about upcoming Nick as to the 32yr old Watt and contract weights vs youth.

Either way, it just takes 1 team / 1 determination / 1 move and a renowned player could be gone !!!

Oh geez! 32 million per season for a guy on the decline who turns 32 in October.
Stop holding onto the past which is one of the problems this organization continues to practice.
Look ahead with the younger players and build on that.
Watt has won zero playoff games here and most likely will never win one here. Move him if you can to a contender like the Rams where Sean McVay is said to be a big fan of his.
If you can do that, it gives Watt a chance to play for a real contender and not a pretender, and we get something in exchange in the 27 draft. Maybe we can squeeze out a second round pick for him.
This team is not going anywhere with or without Watt. They have no QB with or without Rodgers.

I knew when they signed him it was overpayment. Now fans wake up to the truth. Dump that contract, eat some money if you must. Move to greener pasture.

Meh, I dont care either way... I feel like he will probably rebound if the D is run right... 32 isnt old for a stud pass rusher... its one of the positions with the longest time to drop off... there is a reason he was in the top 3 fastest to all sorts of positional milestones, yet like 30th on all time sack lists ... seeing a stud passrusher dropping double digit sacks on the other side of 35 isnt unheard of...

On the flip side he does deserve to chase a super bowl and we do have effective replacements..

Id still rather deal Highsmith... he isnt a super elite pass rusher, so his drastic drop off to backup level will be in the same time range as Watt... maybe even sooner

A lot of poster(s) are saying he deserves a shot at a championship, maybe so.

I don’t feel bad for him as he chose to stay here, due to big money.

He chose money over championships and that’s A-ok knowing it was his choice.

Haywerd falls into that category as well.

MOST high-end players will take money over championships every time.

I don't see it that whatsoever. That is a very cynical viewpoint. They got paid and deservedly so, but they could have made even more leaving. I think first and foremost they wanted to stay here for loyalty and legacy. Being a one hat Steelers legend means something. Going elsewhere was no guarantee of winning anything. Leaving to chase trophies drives me nuts. I respect the decision to stay more.

Where was he going to make more money???? I think he got the highest paid defensive player in the NFL contract at the time…….

Yes, what you say can be true, but also the money is as big a factor as any.

These “careers” are limited time / earning power,

A true hometown discount, WATT didn’t give any kind of that.

His two contracts were the top of the tier type contracts

He even held “in” for more money.

He went to Art 2 and said he wanted to play, Art caved and TJ was happy.

The O’l days of playing for the love of the game is long gone.

I’m not saying I want TJ gone, but I am saying that enduring love for the team to the degree of less money is just not as prevalent as a time long past.

I hate the GREED of the NFL, and players are not immune to is either.

If he got that here he would have gotten more on the open market. It wasn't a discount. Why would it be? With no franchise QB cap wasn't an issue. With the cap increases it will be a no big deal. He didn't whine or cry he didn't make a federal case in the press. He simply played it safe as not to get hurt.

Bingo...

I want to see Watt without the same old same old D scheme. I think with Herbig, less is more, I don't think you'd see the same production if he were an every day starter. We don't have a QB contract to worry about, and we won't for another 3 years minimum, probably longer. Watt's contract isn't really killing us.
For this team to do anything, we need Watt to be Watt, getting rid of him and going with Herbig and Highsmith doesn't push this team or D anywhere near being competitive, so there's really nothing to lose keeping Watt, Herbig and Highsmith seemed to miss alot of time. I'd look at trading Herbig while his trade value might be high.

We'd be lucky to get a 3rd or 4th rounder for him, and we will probably have to eat part of his contract. Watt needed to be traded a year or two ago. Hopefully, he returns to form this year under the new defense, and he stays a Steeler until he retires. If not, I'll still be cheering him when he enters the HOF.

people wanting Watt traded, go back and watch James Harrison film, he was rarely doubled or even chipped, because LeBeau didn't allow it. Now watch Watt for the past few seasons and he's double/chipped pretty much every passing play. The scheme can really help. Hell watch Garrett from last year, he wasn't doubled or chipped on alot of his sacks.

Lombardis in your former teams’ trophy case don’t pay for mansions, grottos, fast cars and fast women

But money sure does
