Aaron Rodgers Contract Offer With Steelers Is Reportedly A Massive Number

Vikings have rejected the idea of Roger's. Now he comes- a- cryin' back to Omar and Tomlin. Are they foolish enough to sign him?

Their football acumen is on the line.

Why young Padawan, of course they are going to sign him as at that time he’ll be a volunteer…….

And they will be less hostaged………

What comes with that age problem is he can't move, which is why he got rid of the ball faster than anyone in the NFL last season, that doesn't go with two vertical targets that need a little time to get downfield/open. No way Rodgers makes us a contender, our highest paid defense in the NFL got destroyed in the playoffs
He can actually find Muth and will throw across the middle and along with Pickens who will probably run the intermediate stuff while DK takes the top off.. And while I like Russ that has been his weakness(I know people tried to blame Mikey) his whole career: throwing across the middle.

Slants and crossers...easy peasy for him. We haven't had a QB who could do that since Ben, and he wasn't anywhere near A.R.s ability in that part of his game. Rodgers makes absolutely ridiculously accurate throws in the intermediate game.

You probably don't have to worry as I'm thinking(but hope I'm wrong) he will retire before he joins this train wreck.

I was given a 10 business day window for when my shoulder surgery can be scheduled. What happens first, I have surgery scheduled, or we sign a starting QB?
April 24th, who had "know insaniti's surgery first"? I should be ready by training camp tho

Can you go 0-5 to end the season for under $25M this year and will you promise to stay away from blocking sleds in TC?

Is the blocking sled thing a must?the nation

The strength and conditioning coach made it a part of the conditioning test for training camp.

Yet in Ben's last season they didn't want him throwing across the middle..... until the 4th quarter that is.....when Ben simply did his own thing. Ended the season with 7 fourth quarter come from behind wins.

Apparently Rodgers is at the facility today.

I think I'm at the point where I'd probably rather just go with Mason.

But if we did sign him, I really hope that it's a deal that's not hard to walk away from in year 2.

I don't want to sign a short monster deal with an old QB. Really hurt us when we did it with Ben. But since he was home grown and gave the franchise so much, I understood why they did it.

You should also understand that is was Ben’s ability that masked a lot of the inept of Coach Tomlin.

Ben’s last year here he had 7 come from behind wins. That was Ben, not Tomlin’s sudden ability to open up the offense.

Some here have a tendency to write Ben’s last couple years off, like he wasn’t any good so I like to point that out. Remember that was all done behind the worse OL in the nfl as well.

Reports say Roger's is visiting steelers office today.

I dont hate Arod like some here... but I think he at best masks the issues and at worse demands stupid roster changes to get his guys on the team... he, DK, abd Pickens may start a Royal Rumble on the field this year... either with the other team or themselves... maybe a couple of fans... or all of the above... its a powder keg for sure if they get him

Everyone gets to have an opinion.

I'm all but 100% sure that Ben will be the best QB I ever see play for this team. If he doesn't get in on the first ballot, it will be because (1) the new system for voting guys in sucks, and (2) people like Peter King hate the Steelers (he couldn't even vote for Troy!!!!).

But after the injury Ben's accuracy was not good. Even before, AB was complaining about deep ball accuracy ("WIFI issues"). But after, he could still throw hard. But not where he wanted. I remember really noticing it in the Cowboys game in the 11-0 collapse year. Romo kept talking about how the Boys were playing with 1 S high and Ben was going to eventually kill them for it. But every time he tried, he missed by 5-10 yards or so.

I think that's when the rest of the league noticed. And we went to ****.

I think the reasons for so many comebacks in the last year were something like:
  1. Ben still had the heart of a ******* lion, even though he wasn't all that good at passing anymore he could still will guys to victory. I've happy for him that his career didn't end with his worst game ever (CLE playoffs). And that I can remember his last season with the wins against division rivals (and mostly forget that the KC playoff game happened).
  2. This is the style we played...and continue to play to mask poor QB play....keep it close, hope to win at the end. It is incredibly boring. And very hard to watch. Tomlin has us playing like the Devils with Brodeur (for NHL fans). And it gets us more wins than we should rightfully have with the QB play we've had.
Tomlin's clearly not absolved from all of this. But I think that his main issues are the responsibility he bears for our recent inability to draft well early and his inability to get good coordinators. Re: point 2. Tomlin is pretty much the same as Cowher. They are both more about getting players to really buy in (which is essential for success in the cap era IMO). But both really want / need to have very good to great coordinators on both sides of the ball.

There's a reason that our only post-Noll SB trips happened with LeBeau on the sideline IMO. And it's not because of the defensive genius of BC and MT.

This.

I'll be happy to cheer for him if he plays well.

I just don't think he really has it anymore.

I hope to be wrong. Because I assume that he's physically there to finish up the details on the contract and / or do a physical.

I don't hate him at all either. I think he's a nut off the field, but as long as he's not breaking any laws who cares? The only Issue I have with him is his age. I wanted him brought here before he went to the Jets, so he's a little longer in the tooth but I think he still makes us a short term (1 to 2 years???) contender.

I just want the Steelers going back to doing Steeler moves. Not sure they know what that is. That is kinda ******.

I feel like the fans stayed the same, but the team has changed.

He instantly makes us a contender. IF the O-line can play better than the Jets O-line. He uses all the field and can still make all the throws, problem is age that's all.
I like your optimism, but Ben, Mason, Mitch, Kenny, Justin, and Russel didn't use the middle of the field under the last few years. I have 0 optimism Rodgers will unless he goes against coaching or Tomlin magically decides to change his philosophy. The fact we retained Meyer gives me very little hope Tomlin is going to change his ways

You know he'll do whatever the **** he wants

Well Russ did that against Cincy the first game and then after that he wasn't able to audible out of plays. Probably will have to revamp our entire offensive philosophy/scheme for THE FOUR TIME MVP, VET SB WINNING QB if he decides to come here. Otherwise simply roll with Rudy.

The only reason I want the Steelers to sign Rodgers is because it'll probably be a circus and a potential disaster for the Steelers. I want change and it's gonna take an implosion of a season to get this team to make significant changes.
Not sure that would bring about change. Not sure anything under this owner has that power. After last season to retain the whole crew? Yeah nothing will change….. Same ol clueless crew comfy in their shoe.

If Rodgers comes aboard it's probably only because he will have big input(philosophy and game day wise) into the offense. I would think besides money that will be the other thing that must be given for him to sign.

The more I think about it, and this is very argumentative- if they want a dude in there and want to pay- someone who would work and wouldn’t be a complete jagoff is Kirk Cousins. I think he would work better with Arthur Smith than Rodgers and Wilson. He is a way better guy and would be the right guy to help bring along a younger quarterback. His persona in my opinion would fit more with what we like in a Pittsburgh quarterback. Of all the names out there, you give home Metcalf, Pickens and Muth, he will make them eat. His first year back from injury was meh. I wouldn’t be surprised if he rebounds this year. Downfall, he goes away in the post season. Plus his wife isn’t bad to look at either…

I agree personality wise, but physically I think Cousins is done. He is less mobile than Wilson or Rodgers and I don't think his arm is as strong. I doubt he would come in as a mentor / backup role
