Alex Highsmith....................... invisible & INVINCIBLE

Ham is one of the best LB's to ever play for any team. He is absolutely in any top 5 or even top 3 Steelers LB's of all time. As much as I loved Lambert, most would say Ham was the better of the two. He was bigger, faster and could do it all. He and Lambert were one hell of an ILB tandem.
 
Jack Lambert was very good no doubt but he had that mean / team / streak that stood out to the media so they went with it. It created a bigger than life persona that corrilated to the deciveness of that defense.

Ham probably had more skill but Lambert did the things that fired the team up....(slamming the dallas player after missed FG attempt as an example).

All I know is that I am dang glad to have had BOTH on my beloved STEELERSteam.

Is there a more storied franchise than the STEELERS when it comes to LBer play ?

If we're talking best all around player at 3-4 OLB, I'll take Greg Lloyd.
Of course, TJ, Harrison, Greene, and even Gildon had better sack numbers, but Lloyd impacted the games as much or more than any of them. And he was dangerous as hell hitting people. You want sack numbers? I'll take TJ, Harrison, even Greene. You want their QB or RB on the sideline getting treated or in the locker room getting x-rayed? Lloyd!
Give us 2 or 3 more years of a healthy TJ dominating, I'll put him at the top.

1. Lloyd
2. Harrison / Watt
4. Porter
5. Greene (only 3 years here)
6. Gildon/Woodley/Haggans/
 
In a 3/4 my starters would be in no particular order. These are leaders of men in a violent sport who lead by example. TJ would be at No.5 for now.
1.Ham
2.Lambert
3.Lloyd
4.Harrison

Seriously? We are talking about a few HOFers here now. To each, there own though. Watt simply can't stay healthy, unfortunately.

Prior to this season Watt started a possible 77 of 81 games and is already 5th on the Steelers all-time sack list. Unlikely, but possible that he could take over the franchise sack record by the end of the season. He needs 7 more sacks to tie Harrison. Btw, Harrison has the record in 177 games, Watt has played 80.

Well damn.....put him in the HOF already. Zero playoff wins but a boatload of sacks. If that is what floats your boat cool.

Get a head coach who can get the team into the playoffs more than three times so far.

Slash asked me where I would put Watt in the OLB ranking. Given he plays 3-4 OLB, the ranking was obviously for 3-4 OLBs. I think the exclusion of guys like Ham also made it very obvious 4-3 guys weren't being included. Not the same position so shouldn't be on the same ranking list.
