Alex Leatherwood Released

This is Omar Khan how can I help you?

Berm: Can we get us a Leatherwood or what?
Our OMAR: Bisquit's is what we need ........... (picture of happy face guy waving)
Omar Khan: We are really happy with our T and G depth. (Kidding said by nobody ever) I'll see what I can do stay tuned.

Our OMAR: (picture of PeeWee Herman on a bicycle)........ if that's how we ride then so be it.....................
(Ok I can start with Jesse Davis G/T from the Vikings)

So Far Omar Khan has been showing a good reaction to cut day.!

The Steelers already have 2-3 guys on the roster to be coached up….again. Why give another roster position to a guy who’s not ready? I would halfway be ok with Leatherwood had the Steelers released Green.
I was thinking picking up Leather and then cutting Green. He had a good game at G last year so his not ready at G might not be that far off.

I would definitely bring Leatherwood in and kick the tires, if close he is way better than GREEN is. CUT the Green and varnish the wood !!!!

I am willing to bet he is better than Green.
I’m willing to bet Mondeaux may be as good at G as Green🤦🏻‍♂️ I hear he’s available too…just tell him the LB is the QB and go get him (you’re pass rushing every play now son and ya don’t even have a gap responsibility against the run, just go maul Someone)

At any rate it’s an extremely low bar Green is setting

I don't think it matters if Leatherwood was good enough to play for the Raiders.

He may not be very good at all but that's not the question. Is he better than the players on our roster right now?

He may not be good but he may be better than our bad.

The Raiders have to eat his guaranteed at least this year. 1 year is not enough to write off a 1st round guy like Leatherwood, especially with how bad our line is. I would have brought him in.
Well they have to east his signing bonus… they only pay that contract if nobody claims him off waivers

There is a reason nobody offered to trade for him, even for free… $$$

Still - after only 1 year, he is better than the **** we have on our team. Bring him in and teach him one position first and foremost. I know the Steelers like position flexibility but teach a player one position first and then think about moving him around. 1 year just isn't enough time to evaluate a guy who was brought in by Gruden and not wanted by the new staff. At this point, I'd say he is better than Greene for sure. Greene may be able to put on a few pounds but he will never grow taller or grow his arms a couple more inches.

Who on this board can say that Leatherwood is not better than Kendrick Green or Kevin Dotson. Leatherwood projects better as a guard in the NFL and is worth bringing on.

So, the Packers released Caleb Jones, an undrafted free agent LT out of Indiana. Usually that wouldn't raise an eyebrow. However, he was their training camp darling. Played 84 snaps over three games during the preseason and, according to Pro Football Fakers, graded out as their second highest OFFENSIVE position player, not just lineman. Kid committed no penalties, allowed only one pressure and graded high as both a run and pass blocker (again with the grain of salt that these are PFF grades}. OH, and he's 6'9", 370 Lbs.
If the kid has cleared waivers, Omar Khan should be in his agent's ear immediately in an effort to bring in a young guy to develop who would push Moore.

Ways to predict if we will have interest in a free agent or cut

1. Does he have a family member that is affiliated with us somehow
2. Did we scout him in college or interview him at the combine
3. Did he make plays against us at any time
4. Does he have familiarity with a coach or did one of our front office guys work where he played while he was there before.
5. Does he have a high draft pedigree

we can still sign him. just have to be to the 53-man roster and not to our PS

which, I'll offer up Green's spot on roster for him

as for Leatherwood ... ESPN said this morning he'd given up the most pressures of any OL during the preseason.

Green > Leatherwood?

i'd take my chances on Leatherwood.
