Wednesday Allar came in for the last of the 30 to visit the Steelers.

I think they are covering their bases, but also think they pick him in the value slot (not sure who determines their value slot)

My guess is 2nd or 3rd round they pull the trigger and pick.

Didn't see any mention in the thread topics or home page.

In the 4th round nobody would complain. Earlier than that there will be a lot of caterwauling.

He won’t make it to the 4th round.

If he’s there on our 1st of 3 3rd round picks they better take him.

I could see them taking him in the second as well.

Caterwauling fans (not you xjx) are a dime a dozen, and get confused on **** from apple butter.

good, if he's there in round 3 take him, throw as much at the wall until something sticks.
I could see that happening. I've done just as many mock drafts where I was pulling potential rookie starters as I did where the draft board was barren by the Steelers first pick in the third round.

They don't have a QB, I'm not complaining if they take him in any round.

Schools within a certain distance don't count toward the official visit list, do they?
Not sure what WVU, Pitt, etc., but I assume they had discussions with more than just the 30 listed.

Im ok with Simpson, Allar and a Beck at three. They have three of them. Im even ok with throwing in a 5th to get the best one. Or their belief he is the best one. There is a big drop off in talent in this draft. Tgat us well known. Im just not ok with second or higher. They need a guard/tackle and a WR.

Here is another piece to this. So they take a qb this year in the third or higher and dump Rudy. Rodgers plays similar, stays healthy and there is very little opportunity for anyone else. Then the 2027 draft is more QB rich.....now what?

You've got to trust that McCarthy is going to do what he was hired to do. And that is groom Howard and whatever QB we draft in the 3rd round behind the scenes to have them ready in 2027. That's why we have to take a QB in this draft at some point. Gotta have two young guys pushing each other to be next years starter.

That's the best way to get ready for next year: Already feeling like we got a guy who can be the starter. You are also forgetting one thing......what if one of these guys we have (Howard or the guy we draft) takes over in the last third of the season because of their progress?

Speaking of Howard, Cam Heyward was just on with Rich Eisen and didn't mention Rudolph. No one is giving Mason the time of day.

He is definitely a backup. Heck, if they draft a QB, he and Howard should be fighting for QB1 and QB2. Rudolph should be QB3 unless one of the 2 others totally shiznits the bed during the preseason.

easy:
2027 Steeler QBs
1. Howard
2. 2026 QB
3. 2027 QB

Big battle in TC.

perfect time to have a HC good at developing QBs.

probably should have done this starting in 2019.

Teams dont generally take guys with a premium pick with an eye to take one in the first next year. I consider a three to be premium.

that's fine. neither of us is making any pick next week.

Since KFP, the Steelers have only used a sixth on Howard.
