Alualu and Tuitt

If you have a DK subscription, go back and look at Lolley's and DKs articles from the past month or so. They mention he's been spotted working out at the facility.
In any event, there's also an article on that site from Lolley on March 1 where he quotes Colbert as saying that Tuitt definitely wants to play in 2022 and wanted to play in 2021.
Again, if Colbert/the team knows they have that commitment from Tuitt, I don't see them putting a deadline of OTAs on his return. Maybe, mini-camp. Maybe. And, if he's been at the facility working out, they have every reason to believe that commitment is real.
We'll see.
Hopefully that's all true, but if he's been seen at the facility working out and wants to play in 2022, why wouldn't he show up for the OTA's?

I have no idea why he wouldn't. And I'm not saying that he won't. I guess we'll see how it all plays out. To me, the biggest worry is whether or not you get the same player if he comes back.

I think no matter when he might come back (I still think it should be sooner to show his commitment after taking a year off with pay), he has to be in top shape and ready to go full speed. I sure hope the Steelers have given him those expectations and if he doesn't meet and exceed them, they should not hesitate to make him a post June 1 designated cut. Use the $9 million for a FA later in the offseason as they always seem to do. Tuitt is done after this year anyway unless he gets an extension with a pay cut. There is no way you give him another big contract.

ABSOLUTELY concerned of that nature.

For those who think he is going to pick up where he left off will be in for a rude surprise. I think he will be a work in progress and showing hope........
until he sustains an injury and misses game time.

I never hope injury and definitely vote against that type of stuff but a reality is there with HIS history of it being so.

I always hope for the best BUT prepare for the worst and in that faith I hope we have a plan in place.

I really think that Tuitt should have clearly communicated his commitment already. Perhaps he has, and the Steelers are aware.

I will be kinda pissed about missing a Haden-like opportunity to upgrade CB with Bradberry using Tuitt's cap money if he is going to get cut. It goes without saying that if he is not ready in every way for OTAs that he should be cut.
The only good in the situation coming late is that we could actually roll some of that cap space into next year and grab a legit tackle with it when Chuks doesn’t pan out….sorry I mean IF he doesn’t pan out

I have liked Dan Moore since day one and was glad he started. I also see he needs to step up his game as well.

I do see the interior improvements acquired and hope that that improvement will also help both the tackles to a degree.

With better interior play I think tackle play increases a s well.

As for Chuks, all I can say is I hope there is a plan B on the roster if needed.

Yes a plan better than Haeg or (throw up in mouth) Trent Scott would be great because as much as I want Moore and Chuks to succeed only time will tell.

And great point about improved interior play DIC. We can only hope Green adds a little upper body muscle too while taking a step forward.

I actually don't think GREEN will be our starting center but like you say,......... time will tell.

I'm not sure what was Dotson's issue, either he regressed or GREEN's issues domino-D over to Dotson (greens poor play)

When GREEN went down with injury our replacement instantly made that line better so I'm basing a little interior betterment translates to the tackles betterment as well.

Dotson is an X factor, will he step up this season or did the coaches actually have something to be disappointed about when he showed up to camp last year ? Obviously I want betterment and it seems Big Dot has all the tools so let's get rolling.!!!

It will be more interesting then ever come TC.

I will go 3 bucks that Green is not the starting center opening game

Out here in the O'l west I could assume

deer = BUCKS

Hay = can be bunched up into BUCKS for lose stacking

Horse = BUCKS-ing broncos

Pretty sure GREEN isn't starting either .........................................Any questions ?

I honestly think if Green starts early in the year it could be at guard… i know he worked out all off season. Asking tgat guy to transition at his college size directly to center was asinine… they always need a year. I think he could be the center by seasons end or next year assuming he put on ten to twenty lbs of muscle… he isn’t a bust by any means yet.

Dotson was a super inexperienced guy stuck between two rookies… I wouldn’t judge him on last year yet

When Green got injured, it was late in the season and he looked worse than most of the season as he definitely hit the rookie wall. But, they had a different C and Leglue was in there. Leglue was playing much better at G. The 2 combined were definite improvements.

Agree TDX27 but also realize that with that better interior play, MOORE played better as well.

I'm excited for this year's training camp and the battles to ensue. I hope the truly best (not draft placement) get the nod and our line is vastly improved fro last season.

Moore wasn't great but played well being thrown over to LT since Chuks couldn't handle it. The Steelers like Moore. The LT spot is his to lose and, unfortunately (based on his contract), the RT spot is Chuks to lose. Although, I still wouldn't hesitate to sit Chuks if someone else looks even remotely equal or better. There is little, if any, upside to Chuks after 4 years with little improvement.

I have said this before but it bears repeating. A huge contributing factor to the quality of line play was the quality and type of play calling. They were regularly put in situations that even a good to great line would struggle with. They were not given plays that worked to their strength and inexperience. It took them out of a just maul your man mind set and they had to think far too much for a young line. All of them will look vastly improved if the play calling and scheme improves. They will all look terrible if it doesn’t.

I hear exactly what you are saying and I have advocated that O'Canada has to make the biggest step up of all of them. Can he, we must hope but will find out soon enough. I just hope he installs an audible play system and has more than 6 plays total.

Whatever you wanna say about Green and Moore, OK, but I'll tell you what. They hung in there and hung tough. You didn't hear them whine, they kept plugging in a real tough situation. Give them credit. That is important too.

Actually, the stated (and reasonable) explanation for Moore at LT and Chuks at RT was that Moore was a LT coming out of college and had not garnered enough snaps at RT where they felt that he was comfortable enough to make the move. Chuks had spent the previous season at RT, so they kept him there. That's the explanation that was given at the time anyway. And, it actually makes sense.

But Chuks still isn't very good. Moore looked better at both positions as a rookie. I know they signed Chuks to a much bigger contract than he is worth but I still can see them getting rid of him after this year as his contract is set up that way.

Moore looked like a rookie that looked lost at times and had some flashes of good football... Chuks was still the best OL player last year statistically.... I'm not even a huge Chuks fan.

Being the best turd in a pile of **** doesn't make him good.
Last year was Chuks fourth year in the league. Other than Turner, he was the most experienced player on the OL. He "should" have stood head and shoulders above everyone else on the line. He did not.

Actually he did in areas... Mainly pass protection... Chuks and Green were tops on the OL. I'm not saying he can't be replaced for someone better. I also agree with the poster that said the contract is friendly towards the Steelers... The Steelers seemed in no type of panic mode to find his replacement this off-season or in the draft

See, I get that PFF rated him higher than others in regards to his pass protection and the fact that he gave up so few sacks/hurries. Now, that raises a question: "What part, if any, did Ben's league leading release time play in Chuks sacks/hurries numbers?" Considering that Chuks routinely got his *** handed to him in the run game, I'd bet it was a big part.
And, I'm not a Chuks hater. I'm also not a Chuks believer. I do think he might be developing slower because of his late start playing football. That said, he still was below par for the position and I hope they bring in someone who can actually push him to improve.
