Are our starting safties varsity material?

Here's a vote for no, or if your an optimist not yet. While Edmunds is a rookie, he's still making too many mistakes in pass coverage. Daivs remains a zero as a playmaker and seems to miss tackles that lead to lots of yardage.

We have to get pressure to make up for the shortcomings on the back side of the defense. Other than two sacks he had all day to throw, Watt and Dupree were ghosts out there today and they walked up and down the field because of it.

Watt was hurt, and Dupree held. But our safeties other than gift interceptions don't make many plays on the ball. Nor do they tackle well in the open field. Teams like KC or New England, with good backs and tight ends...

It’s a dead heat as to whether our safeties or ILBs are the weak links on this D. If we could get one-third the Polamalu-playmaking/splash plays or half the Ryan Clark run stuffing ability from our current safeties, we’d be in a better position going forth.

we should move 56 to play both safety positions he is that good.. problem solved.

Just heard on the ESPN 970 postgame show that the Steelers have only 12 or 13 takeaways this season.

Not good.

How many turnovers do we have all year? 26?

The ILB's can blitz well and be taken out of the game in situational football. We're stuck with the safeties.

No ****. It's an opinion. Same as all your bullshit. Bad opinions.

Then tell us why in your " **** " opinion do you think he will be fine? Details if you can are requested.

Because he is a first year player.

I don't think our DBs are jumping routes. Notice I said DBs. I feel like this must be two games without a turnover. There was no pressure today. You have to get pressure. No idea how that tipped ball after the Grimble fumble didn't get caught.

Edmunds was a terrible pick, he will be a situational back up for his career after his rookie contract expires.

This was a good safety class. We saw a good one last night in James. Okay he went before Edmunds but Reid and others did not.

I thought Edmunds had his best game last night, had some solid hits and made several impactful plays.

To be fair he seemed like he was targed on a few plays. And that Davis hit on Haden was inexcusably horrible..

Overall the S play hasn't been good enough. And giving up 33 it is trending in the wrong direction.
