The Steelers went into 2014 with 1 WR with Steeler experience and a second year running back. They really should not have
been expected to be a top offense under those circumstances and yet they were. Can you imagine what this offense could be
in 2015 if Wheaton and Bryant have even half the improvement that Bell had in his second year.

The whole offense is back for the first time in a long time, so it can only be improved upon. In my opinion we are headed into a few years
of watching the best offense in Steeler history. Ben is also likely to move to the top of the heap in the AFC as Brady and Manning age out.

The defense needs work, but it isn't as far off as many make it out to be. A good defensive draft and one strategic defensive free agent
acquisition would lead to significant improvement. I, for one, think the Steelers are setting up for several Super Bowl runs.

2 Lineman away IMO from being the top offense. Those 2 could mean Pouncey moving to Guard also. I would be happy with 2 tackles or 1 tackle and 1 center. I feel Beach can play either tackle and could even kick into Fosters Guard position. A 2nd tight end wouldn't hurt either as Heath has maybe 2 or 3 left

To coin a phrase from my old buddy Troy, "time will tell".

A new pass catching TE would help, Heath can settle in his twilight years as a blocker

Even with the line we have, I think we should be the best or at least a top 5 offense for a few years. That is, if Haley doesn't screw up the game plans and play calling. We will have 3 very good WR's. All 3 can take the top off a D (this is the one thing that baffled me against the Rats. Why didn't we throw a single long ball in the 1st half?). We will still have Heath but he isn't as reliable as he used to be. He fumbled too much and dropped too many this year. We need his replacement and soon. And, we will have the best or one of the best RB's in the league. It should be fun to watch. Again, we will need to score 30 plus until the D is shored up. We can't come out hoping to establish the run. We need to come out and score touchdowns early to take some of the pressure off the D.

A RB is needed for a one two punch.
A RT is needed to compete with Gilbert.......
not sold on Wheaton, perhaps a proven WR wouldn't hurt either. One that would take away double coverage on Brown............
Or a pass catching TE as mentioned.......

Agree, burt definately NEED at least 2-OL that can actually compete at a higher level and start.

Salute the nation

Here here...

part of me isn't opposed to either a NT in 1 or a DT to switch to a 4 /3

that is if a pass rushing stud isn't there for the picking at what 23?

looking at the corners you might have a situation in the draft where the value isn't there.........

I am more inclined to see a pass rusher and a corner brought in free agency

then they can concentrate on BPA from

RT
NT
CB
SS
OLB
RB
WR

Although I don't think they take an OL high in this draft, I am curious about the Pouncey to Guard thought process. There are several posters who mention it and I always wonder why. Why move an All-Pro Center to guard? You may strengthen the Guard position, but you more than likely weaken the Center position. If you were going to draft an interior OL, it would be easier imho to get an athletic Guard than a complete All-Pro Center.
Can you explain your reasons for wanting this move? Maybe I'm missing something.

we won't be switching to a 4/3 - we don't have the LB's or DL for that - everyone we have is too small and untalented for that - you need dominant pass rushing DTs for it to work

No more of same old ****. Wasting more poor picks on the DL is out.

WE need CB, CB, CB, S, S, TE, RB - start there for once and stop neglecting the secondary.

Pass the ball and stop the pass - that is the new NFL.

Fire the GM and get a better one if he can't pick the talent and get the job done.

.

I love how the Offense came together this year. We have some serious talent on this side of the ball.

That said... we are NOT the top offense in the league. We may lead in yards (actually #2)... but we are #7 in points. We are a number seven offense--POINTS, not yards, really matter. The exciting thing is that we can be better next year. We could use a move TE, a stud #2 RB and maybe another OLineman (LG or RT).

agreed

now what if the top available in the draft is a RB

do the Steelers take him ?

Hell yeah! I think they understood the need for a two-headed running attack, or at least a capable back up when they got Blount. They gambled on his having grown up and matured and they lost on that one. I think (hope) they go out and get a more than capable RB-2 in either the draft or FA.

and where do we get sacks and pressure from in a LeBeau defense?

LB LB LB

Our DL is small, weak and everybody has seen our same blitzes on D 10,000 times - it's stale and with no corners it's doomed to fail every year

I would not take a RB high at all. 4th round and lower. Even though I love the kid from Wisconsin

Just asking for clarification, but, you are stating that Heyward, Tuitt and McClendon are small and weak? All three? Just one? Again, just asking so that I'm clear on what you're saying.

We are set on the DL. Tuitt will be a force next year i believe. I think he will be the best player from last years draft. Hopefully Shazier can stay healthy and flash that speed without thinking so much about where he is supossed to be

they are nothing special

not a Casey Hampton or Aaron Smith in the bunch - all can easily be replaced - like Worilds

Heath blew a few blocks on Saturday night....not sure he might not be done too...

Statistically yes, but although they are averaging about one TD more a game than they did under The Bruce, red zone scoring still ain't all that good and they still take 3 points all too often. Need at least two better linemen.

We are gonna have red zone deficiencies as long as Ben is the quarterback. His style doesnt equate into efficiency in a short condensed field. Quicker decisions are required and he most of the time needs more than a standard dropback to find the open man. Im sure we all noticed the decisiveness of Gradkowski the other night..he dropped back, surveyed and let it fly and never left the pocket. AND WAS EFFECTIVE at it.

The offense isn't the problem when our ****** talentless defense gives up 30 points every game.

Can't stop the run, can't stop the pass, penalties galore - we don't have a single difference maker on defense now

James Harrison was our only impact player, by far - and he had to come out of retirement to show these stiffs how it's done

Ahhh, I thought that was what you were implying. An interesting opinion.
