Are you glad Ben returned?

Im a fan too. But other than the oline giving him no time,,,, i dont understand the throws anymore.

ben goes 24 of 46 for 123 yards.. Najee has big game. Isnt the run game supposed to make the passing game easier?

OL as you mentioned, Canada's handcuffed offense (same as it's been since Haley left), and 90% of our big play passes being dropped.

I'm glad Ben came back. I'd take him back next year. But honestly would rather him go to a team that's on the cusp and get a ring so everyone can see how much we wasted a HoF QB's last decade plus.

I am glad he came back to fill the void for the year, as I knew Aaron wouldn't be available this season.🤓

*note to self* say no DIC’s peyote.

Bwaaakkkk bwaaakkkkk

Sometimes you can get stuck in a different dimension and just need a little guidence to get back home. take E.T. for example he just needed help

I'm glad he came back. He can still make most, if not all of the throws. If our O-line was even close to average, Ben would have looked great this year. If Canada was even mediocre, Ben would have looked great as well. The proof is all in the 3rd and especially 4th quarters when Ben had more freedom and they threw the ball more downfield. The team doesn't just all of a sudden look great for no reason. It was **** **** poor coaching. Tomlin and Canada ruined Ben's last year even with the poor O-line. Throwing those quick passes on 3rd and long that are at or behind the line is just plain ******* stupid. Ben throws to whoever is the player called. There are no progressions from his 1st to 2nd to 3rd option. There is only one option throwing that quick.
I still think the team is better with him than without him. It didn't help that DeCastro waited until after the draft to announce that he wouldn't be able to play, Banner never came back full-time, Dotson was mostly out hurt, and they drafted a center who couldn't play, you know, center. Tremendously poor evaluation of OL talent on the part of Shades and Colbert both.

I am MOST happy he came back but VERY disapointed to the FO / HC / OC / OL coaching for giving such a poor effort in giving BEN a decent chance.

I would be happy to get another year out of him ONLY if actual high investment was made towards both OL & DL. BEN showed his greatness and proffessionalism through out this entire season and by not open airing what we all saw that was abviously causing major problem(s).

This is a year in which I doubt we can get a very good QB in the draft but next year very possible. BEN could help.

I think the FO put something together last year knowing they’d have to pay cap hell for it this year. They started hot but had so many injuries the wheels fell off late. Roethlisberger the ever football player doesn’t care what is around him because he’s used to making bad players better. But he just isn’t the guy he was 5 years ago. Put him behind a top 5 line and he’d throw for 5000 yards. But trying to evade sacks if he holds longer than 1 second isn’t his thing anymore. But I feel he needed to see it himself. I think he made the decision on the stairs during the Ravens game. And after seeing his emotions Monday I have no doubt he’s made up his mind. I hope he can have a good game vs the ravens but I honestly think he’s just going to sling it and have fun. Probably throws 4 picks but he’s going to have fun doing it.

The problem with Pouncey was always his struggles against larger defenders, but he was athletic enough to make plays at the 2nd level. He was always pretty overrated to my estimation, but he was crowned a HoFer before he was drafted, unfortunately. Like the rest of the OL, he got by on reputation while the production was only seen during the Munchak years.

Which is why I think KG came about--they wanted the next Pouncey. Shortsighted at the very least in the endeavor, even worse in execution. He's got the build and the motor, but sadly that's it.

Absolutely. I hope he comes back next year after the FO decides they have no clue what to do with the QB position.

Sorry, but no. He can no longer make "most, if not all" of the throws. Did you even watch him play this season??

That said, I am ultimately glad he came back, if for nothing else, he got to leave on his own terms

I'm glad he came back. And I'll say with no hesitation whatsoever, Ben today is better than Manning was when he won with the Broncos.

It's not his fault the ownership & coaching can't do a single ******* thing right.

C'mon man. Let's not cut DLine decisions short. 😅 Lump them right in. If you don't have elite X and O coaching then you need elite GM and HC free agency and draft decision making. But they are missing on just as much as they are hitting on. Until the equation changes neither will the results. They need to stabilize those lines. Attack the 4 positions in the draft and free agency. RG,RT,NT, DE. They can't afford to sit on the money and bottom feed this off-season. Do that and we will be sitting here again next season regurgitating the same ****. We know they will again fail to address coaching which leaves us with them needing to hit on 3 out of 4 decisions at least. At a minimum they need better C play, a RG upgrade and a NT upgrade. NT and RG would get quick attention to if I was GM as well as which QB I was bringing in.

He should go out and have fun. It's your last rodeo. I don't see the jagoffs winning with Lawrence anyway,he looks beyond awful and completely lost. They'd need to put a backup in with experience.

Bringing Ben back just puts the facade out there. And gets you say 8-10 wins which is the worst place you wanna be in the '23 draft if you are getting a QB. You beef up your lines on both sides through draft and FA money ( you no longer have to pay elite QB money) put Rudolph in there. He really swims (I know most don't see that as possible) and you don't need to draft a qb. He sinks you are going to be where you need to be to get one in '23. Doing things to artificially win a few extra games in '22 is a bad idea. Including bringing in a retread qb when Ben retires.
In fact I pay Rudolph more next year even like 3 or 4 million more next year to get his name on an easily torn up 2023 contract with a true starters base salary on it. Just in case he is good.

I don’t think Ben is most of the problem… I think it’s our WRs inability to catch basic passes that I see other WRs make every game.

I’ve had a thorough look during covid lockdowns in perspective to pro sports. Players are nothing more than a name/#, disposable pieces to a football system.

That said the nfl will market players to give a sense of individuality, relatability to fans. You have humble guys like Troy to egos like AB. Villians like. Burfict, who in all technicality isn’t a villian unless he’s on your team.

So even with someone as tenured as Ben. It’s hard for me to get attached to any player. I feel his play has regressed for quite some time. Rudolph isn’t the answer, that said I think he should’ve retired after 2019. This team needs a new, fresh perspective in a lot of aspects.

Holding onto something for sentimental, emotional reasons seems right but stunts as AB would say boomin’

Lol. Steelers need boomin’ business. In the football ops of the company.

I can totally agree with this except for one thing, COACHING STAFF. That is the constant that will be the biggest hurdle to overcome. BEN did it his entire career while playing under current regime.

I get the retirement / move on / draft positioning / etc. but until the coaching staff has big changes there will be no improveent in the SB hunt. I know that is a BOLD statement but we have seen this movie play out before and with a LOADED roster to boot, ......................... and ........nothing.

If/when coaching were to fail enough with BEN's exit that would be the positive provided ownership acted on that failure

And that said. How content is Art with the product. Once the wins/losses affect revenue then expect major changes. Teams like the Steelers, Cowboys, Lakers, Yankees. Those are big time organizations that can sell regardless of wins/losses.

For the hardcore fan, only changes you’ll see if the status quo stays the same is new players. New sideline apparel. Aside the show goes on

Part of it is Ben's age and the fact he is not going to stand in the pocket for 5 seconds waiting for the big play any more. Another HUGE part of it is the fact that the Steelers WR don't get open. They just don't. If you have a chance to watch the Clowns game, look to see if a Steelers WR - not a RB - gets open downfield.

They don't.

Our two biggest problems on O this year were the O-line and Canada in no particular order. Ben was not the problem.

1. Decision making-Tombert. 2. Oline. 3.Dline 4. Coaching.
