As the Aiyuk Turns part 2…

Talk about dodging a bullet with Aiyuk. It looks like a real mess between him and the 49ers.
Aiyuk is just a solid receiver. I never got the hype / excitement about him possibly coming here. He had one season barely over 1k yrds and another one with 1300.

Now a days you could only get about 600 yards out of the guy.

That 1300 yrd season was one of the top 200 in reciving yards of all time... not exactly nothing...

I think Aiyuk would have put up some strong numbers in 24 and 25 without the injury, I know you could say that about a lot of players. Samuels was gone, Pearsall was also out with a gun shot wound and football related injuries. The caveat is that production would only manifest itself if he would of stayed with San Francisco or went to a team with a similar passing game.

Aiyuk was tough as nails over the middle often way past the chains. Nice runner after the reception. Pittsburgh would have never used those strengths. So basically you’re right, he would have not produced the kind of numbers expected after what the front office would have given up. Even now, the OL is going to need to prove they can give Rodgers the time to exploit the defense down field. I thought he was just a hard nose, really good receiver and teammate. With all these recent shenanigans he’s displayed, I’ve lost that solid teammate opinion not to mention the injury.

These shenanigans may not just be recent. Looks like the bad blood between Aiyuk and San Fran might date back well before his injury - seems he's possibly been in and out of the 49ers doghouse since the beginning of his second year, and there was a reason 49ers were trying hard to trade him and had agreed a trade with the Steelers before Shanahan had a last second change of mind. This article has a timeline of events (from a beat reporters perspective) dating back to Aiyuk's second season that give an indicator of how San Francisco and Aiyuk got to where they are now.

Whats up with all the “player” discussion threads………………….

Anyone thought about starting a Coach Tomlin thread & when that dies down,…….Maybe a Mike McCarthy thread………..
