For years, the Steelers could boast of having two of the fastest, most athletic DBs in the league in Polamalu and Taylor. That's obviously no longer the case.
The lack of pass rush doesn't help, but make no mistake, the Steelers are fielding one of, if not the worst, secondaries in the league. There's no longer anyone who can matchup on the outside, or anyone in the middle who can consistently get his hands on the ball.
Allen and Gay impress no one athletically, and I seriously doubt grandpa Ike would have made much of a difference yesterday.
Mitchell is a fast, functional player, but that's all one can really say about him, as he's a straight-line athlete who reacts more than anticipates.
Polamalu just cannot run well enough anymore. These first four games are the least I've seen him around the ball when healthy and on the field.
One would think that Thomas should be seeing the field more, but the question is why isn't he, particularly in sub packages? Are we sure he's developing as expected? I honestly don't know.
