Baseball playoff thread.....

I yelled "SWING!" at the TV. Why in the world they are watching those pitches I'll never know. It's probably going to be a strike either way, might as well swing.

They're trying to get his pitch count up so they can get a shot at the Cubs bullpen in the 7th or 8th inning.

It would be pretty nice if these ******* idiots would stop looking at the first pitch every single time. Jesus, arrieta is getting the upper hand every single at bat. It's hard to do anything when each batter starts off 0-2.

Hence, why Arrieta having the year he's having. Every strike he's throws looks like it's going to 2-3 feet off the plate when he releases it.

Great plan, except they're all strikes. Same pitch number whether you swing or don't.

Cole should have been pulled, it's do or die right now and he's obviously not in this. Another run.

Yep you got to at least foul them off or it keeps his pitch count down...

Great, another run....

4-0 Cubbies?

Go Penguins!

Pirate ***-pucker factor in full effect again. 2nd best record in baseball....one game knockout. Hey, they get the #29 pick though.

Can't tell ya the number of times I have said this about the Bucs, the last few weeks especially. Guys like Arrieta are gonna throw a strike right from the get-go. The batter takes a strike ... now you're in the hole and Arrieta can throw his junk for us to chase. He's not gonna be wild and fall behind - take a swing at the first pitch you see, unless it just completely out of the zone, 'cause you ain't gonna get to see anything better.

The Pirates screwed the pooch tonight, but the fact a team can be one game and done after winning 98 games demonstrates what a joke the current playoff format is.

While I do agree that it sucks, had they not gone 17-21 against the likes of the Reds and Brewers, they wouldn't have to be playing tonight.

Didn't Happ pitch on Sunday? Cole is the ace on this team and he was the logical pick. He just did not have his A game tonight.

Arietta at 103 pitches. Will Maddon pull him for the closer? Tough decision. Luckily of him, the Cubs lead gives him some cushion either way. If he pulled him, and the Bucs lit the closer up, he'd be ripped to shreds. On the other hand, if he let's Arietta get over 110 pitches, and he's not himself the next game out, he'll get flack for leaving him in too long in a game that was in hand.

Bucs have scored a total of 2 runs in their last 4 playoff games. Wacha, Wainright, Bumgarner, Arietta. The four horsemen of the apocalypse.

A sport based on three-game series has a one-game playoff. A complete joke.

Its better than sitting out at 98 wins. We should have taken advantage of the opportunities when they presented themselves over the course of the season and then we'd be watching the Cards lose to the Cubs.

It ain't over yet...LETS GO BUCS!!

Crap...
