Being Reported Pickens Reported Late to Christmas Day Game

93.7 The Fan reporting this. Tomlin was asked about this in his presser and responded with the following. “I don’t really remember it since it was several weeks ago”.
Sure you don’t remember it Mike. This is what he does with these divas, enables them.
 
When you don’t learn from history you tend to repeat mistakes.

If his memory only extends 2 weeks back that would explain a lot of the mistakes he makes over and over again as you can’t expect him to remember what worked and what didn’t more than a week or two ago.

This answers a lot of questions and quite frankly is not a redeeming quality for the top dog leading the pack.

Maybe he is suffering from some memory disorder and should retire as his mind has become too feeble to lead.

No idea about the hood but he should discipline his players. If Pickens acts up and he doesn't get a proper reaction from his boss guess what? He will keep doing whatever the **** he wants.
What probably pisses people off, at least me, is the I don't remember answer, like WTF?

He could have said that it was solved internally or that he got fined for example. But he doesn't remember because was a few weeks back? BS, he did nothing and that's why he has selective memory
 
I actually have to agree with Tomlin on this one. What Pickens did and what discipline was handed out is on a need to know basis. And fans and press don't need to know.

What benefit is it for the fans and media to know. So the press can crap all over Pickens and the fans can do the same on social media? How's that going to make a bad situation better?

That is one way to look at it, but one can also look at it as holding someone accountable to their actions.

This team has no accountability from top to bottom, coaching to players.

If history can not be remembered, it’s more than likely to be repeated.

I agree DIC. But Pickens can be held accountable behind closed doors avoiding the media circus. Tomlin can definitely be blamed for a lot of things. I don't believe this is one of them.

Should’ve just been honest then and said we’ve disciplined the young man and me sharing with you serves no purpose….

Instead he lies and insults the fans/media’s intelligence OR truly has such a weak memory that he should be in a retirement home, not leading a multi billion dollar company. Either way, not a good look
 
Tomlin has enabled Pickens from day one, every time Pickens obviously quits on a route, Tomlin always backs him.

The same guy that reported this, also said that several players said that's just George being George, that it's happened often.

George being George? We have heard that saying before. That is Mikey T's culture trickling down to the players. Heard him say that on the sidelines several times over the years about other players too. See, they are dismissive about someone asking about it. Its acceptable behavior. Playmakers get a pass. Just like it was with AB.

Make plays on the field, Mikey T lets things slide.

Problem with George is he makes as many bad plays as he does good.

Like I said the only thing that would happen if he admitted that it happened is the media and social media would absolutely pile on Pickens and make the situation worse.

You have your opinion. I have mine. At the end of the day neither counts.

No worry about a pile on. George has done that to himself. The coach doesn't really need to say anything,we all see it.

Yep, it just makes Tomlin look more like an idiot saying he doesn't remember. Just like when Pickens had written under his eyes "always ******* open" Tomlin said he didn't know about that too.
Ray Fittapaldo was just on the fan, said Pickens was late alot this year from games to practices to meetings.

If the Steelers give that guy a big contract, they are ******* fools.

I'd actually look to trade him in the offseason.

I can't believe I was suckered into wasting my time watching this **** show again this year. I was about done with the NFL in general last year.

I'm just down watching the Steelers and now they've become a bull **** team.

They have completely destroyed the entire culture of that team. I don't even recognize it anymore.

Yep, if they give him a big contract, they'll be setting the team back even further than it already is.

Culture, that was a huge thing Tomlin inherited with Cowher's team/coaches, the culture was already in place.

And Tomlin completely dismantled it and turned the Steelers into a bs team! All he had to do was carry the torch passed down.

My opinion is that if Tomlin had answered something to the effect of “That is an internal issue, next question”, there would have been nothing made of it. It would still acknowledge to George publicly and he would be told to “NO COMMENT” should anything be made of it. Is he that “kid-gloved” that he can’t handle absolutely nothing? Weak.

It’s a part of life and growing up, but Coach Tomlin’s culture / discipline / accountability would require coddling, so here we are discussing a matter that should have been handled that hasn’t been handled.

Correct, the other issue is the report mentions that this isn't the first time. And while he wasn't LATE for the game, he was late for Tomlin's standard, which apparently he must not enforce that hard if this isn't the first time it's happened and continues to happen. He also isn't the only player...

What I find interesting is the timing of the report, why now? Why not when it happened? Who leaked it, and why?
