Being Reported Pickens Reported Late to Christmas Day Game

If the Steelers give that guy a big contract, they are ******* fools.

I'd actually look to trade him in the offseason.

I can't believe I was suckered into wasting my time watching this **** show again this year. I was about done with the NFL in general last year.

I'm just down watching the Steelers and now they've become a bull **** team.

They have completely destroyed the entire culture of that team. I don't even recognize it anymore.

Hold up. I just learned something this morning that I want to share with you that will change E-V-E-R-Y-T-H-I-N-G.

Did you know Mike Tomlin has never had a losing season???

In all fairness, it is a feat that will probably never be duplicated again. They guy is a pro at motivating teams to be good, but not great I guess.

If he has a chance to go to another team that is loaded with talent like he had when he came here, he might even win another Super Bowl.

I have no ill will for Tomlin, I just don't think he can piece together and coach another team that will contend in Pittsburgh.

Time to move on.

While it is somewhat impressive, there are few teams that would continue to reward regular season mediocrity and post season failure for almost a decade. Mike found the golden goose in Pittsburgh.

Tomlins fault Pickens was late..ok.

Not sure what "the hood" has to do with anything and you didn't elaborate
It’s Tomlins fault Pickens is continued to act like a jerk going on 2 years now with no tangible repercussions-he’s the fricking head coach

I see you’re back to your Tomlin defense mode-how’s it feel to defend that 5 game losing streak and the worst playoff loss in history and be one of only 3 people on this board left defending this terrible coach?

As far as culture goes I can not blame Tomlin for alot of that. Things were way different in the world when Cowher was the coach. Alot of guys coming in today are entitled, spoiled, selfish, etc etc. Of course there are some things Tomlin could do different like fines and what not, but alot of guys just simply have no respect. Benching a guy is probably not going to matter because obviously they do not care enough in the first place.

Back to the original topic of this post: Pickens was later for the pre-game meeting. What level of disrespect does this guy have to go down to? And Shades just accepts it? Word is Pickens is regularly late for all kinds of meetings, never is anything done about it. Tomlin runs a loose, sloppy ship. And does nothing to discipline anyone. And you wonder why this team is so undisciplined? Wonder no longer. Shades is at the center of it all. He runs an undisciplined ship and it's what players have been commenting on for years and nothing is done about it. Nice work, Art Deuce.

That's what I meant when I said they lost credibility.

How about not drafting a guy like that to begin with. Pickens had red flags all around him for his behavior. You brought up Cowher, most of his draft picks were guys that loved football, guys that would do anything to win on the field.

Correction - Mediocre Mike has 5 straight one-and-done appearances but a 6 game playoff losing streak since the series of blowouts began in the 2016 AFC Championship game.

I get it, but there are not many guys like Watt and Heyward around anymore. Plus we don't even know if it was tomlins choice to draft Pickens or not.
If you have guys like Pickens what do you realistically expect the team to do. You can fine the guy and who knows if that has happened or not? You can bench him, but is that really punishment? If you don't care enough to come to meetings I doubt a guy like Pickens will be upset for being benched. You can cut the guy, but that is kinda giving into their demands. Maybe suspension without pay? I do not like Tomlin at all but you cant blame him for a nationwide / worldwide society problem

Yup!

I was talking about the 5 game losing streak to end this season. There are so many rediculous streaks and stats of ineptitude for Tomlin it’s hard to sort them all out…

Yep, if they give him a big contract, they'll be setting the team back even further than it already is.

Culture, that was a huge thing Tomlin inherited with Cowher's team/coaches, the culture was already in place.
Culture combined with talent wins. Cam and TJ are great players, but they aren't in the same zip code as locker room leaders as guys like Bettis, Ward, Farrior, etc. Troy Polamlu's HOF speech hit home the type of atmosphere the defensive group had under Dick LeBeau, which spanned between Cowher and Tomlin. That's a credit to LeBeau as well. I'd guess nearly every starter on those defenses would be a better leader than what we have now.

Players today only care about their brand.

The Steelers allowed the group of WRs get so ****** that they cannot afford to sit Pickens if he is late for a game or doesn't follow thru on a play.

It isn't a good answer, but thst is indeed the answer.

Good thing Cowher left both huh?

No, but Pickens had red flags about his character, alot of red flags, there were reports by ex gms that said they'd never touch the guy. It was absolutely Tomlins pick, Tomlin has to sign off on every pick there's no way Kahn is going to draft someone that Tomlin doesn't want, Tomlin interviewed the GM's when the job was open, you think he's not about the GM here? Nationwide/worldwide society problem? Maybe, but how many other teams #1 WR's act like Pickens?

Listen this whole whos pick thing has been settled before Tomlin got here. HC has the final call. And Tom you are correct. Lots of red flags, thats part of reason he was 2nd rounder.
