The guy is a troll. He was here awhile back under a different name and in a few months will be back under a new name. You might as well try to carry on a conversation with a tree.

So Ben probably wanted to keep playing but tge Steelers probably acknowledged that he was on a downward slope and at his age the cliff could come too fast to really risk tying up the cap space he would have required.

Does not mean bad blood.. family disagree all the time
 
same happened with Troy Polamalu, a true competitor always wants to keep playing. Sometimes they need a bit of help to recognize the right moment to hang'em up.

He was breaking down and clearly lost a step. He was my fave Steeler during his time. Athletes at the pro level are a proud bunch. They’ll keep pushing til they can’t. Luckily for as bad it seems in the moment, the organization see’s it.

Saves a potential life changing injury. Especially if said player has a family. Last thing you want is to be paralyzed or a vegetable in retirement
 
It was time for Ben, and maybe a year too many, although I can understand the last year with what they had on the roster to replace him with.
The same goes for Troy, although it was tough for him, as a fan you want them to play for ever as well. The Bus, Hines, Heath, were all guys that I unrealistically wanted just one more year out of.

Rod is the only one, off the top of my head, that I can think of that still had some gas left to burn.

Maybe Ben is really pissed and is going to "mentor" Pickett with bad info. That makes senze.
Kinda like teaching your nephew that a banana is an apple just for the fun of it
