Big Ben admits to under estimating Kenny

I liked what he said EXCEPT for how he refers to the Steelers

He said in the interview: "He'll be good for them, & he's just what they needed...

He should have said : "He'll be good for us, & he's just what we needed"
it is called Footbahlin with Ben Roethlisberger not Pittsburgh talk with Ben Roethlisberger

He is 6'3 220. And doesn't really look the least bit fat. So not sure what you mean? Kenny needs to get better in the Red Zone. Now is that him or Canada. Not a chance I bring back Canada. I bring in Candidates and have them tell me what they plan to do with Kenny. Give them a full training camp together and I believe that will be the big difference. I believe he is going to be just fine.
I agree. If you look at KP, he is in very good shape. He has no fat on his body and can run and throw all game long. He is 220 or so and is not small for a starting QB at all. Sure, he can (and I expect him to) add some muscle this offseason as most NFL players do in their first true offseason training program. KP is and will be fine.

Just go away Ben.

Apologize all you want.
Aint no way in hell Ben was rooting for his replacement to light it up, let alone root for his replacement to lead his former team to a SB.

Notice how Ben said "they" rather than "we" or "The Steelers", as if to distance himself. I say "we", as in we need a ****** ILB and a stud left tackle!
And when you have repeatedly state that you're not jealous, it means that you're jealous.

Early on I thought he’d be good, I’m not jealous, there’s nothing to be jealous of, I think he’ll be a good player for them, I think he’s going to be what they are looking for.

I am a fan of the Steelers, but I also recognize that I’m not part of the organization. I don’t use “we” and “us” in reference to the team because other than turning on the TV to watch the game or discussing the team here or with friends I have absolutely nothing to do with how the team performs, what players they bring in, or anything else. I’m just a fan, an observer.

I think Ben may be using “they” and “them” because he may still be a little pissed at the organization. He felt he had more to give and was forced out. Not everyone that was involved with the Steelers has a happy ending and reveres the organization as the end all be all, including some of the greats.

I’m not sure what to make of Kenny Pickett. He’s had two great game winning drives the last two games, but really hasn’t done much else consistently in terms of leading scoring drives.

I think he will be serviceable, a Neil O’Donnel type at the very worst, but I also think with a strong running game and better protection he could exceed his projected ceiling. It’s obvious he has great potential. I’m just not sure the Steelers will develop him well enough to avoid the pratfalls associated with the way this organization puts a premium on pedigree as opposed to coaching and development.

All of that says nothing of the bag of dicks our OC calls a playbook, or the fact that said OC seems content to fling **** at the wall for 3 1/2 quarters hoping something sticks.

He can be “the next one” for the Steelers, but his own organization puts roadblocks in the way through play calling, lack of consistent protection and an emphasis on pedigree. It’s going to be an uphill climb for him if nothing changes with the staff and scheme.

Sorry but I've always had some reservations about Bens humility.
This incident occurred many years ago. A good friend of my wife's daughter was a waitress at some restaurant in Pittsburgh. She worked on the day that Ben showed up. According to her, after he had finished his meal, he had made a little issue about having to pay for it. "Do you know who I am"? said Ben. He then proceeded to give his name " I'm Ben Roethlisberger."

My wife's friend is good people and Steeler fans. She had no reason to make up this story.

Then his sexcapades with those two women that he apparently paid off. I don't believe for a second he raped anybody, but I wouldn't put it past him if asked them if they knew who he was.

Then came his comment about newly drafted QB Rudolph... not to expect mentoring from him.

I think Ben would know way more than us. The way Steelers downed Ben last two years of his career no wonder he refers to them as, them and they.

I think someone up in the Steelers management soured on Ben because they wanted a different offense. I think since Fitchner was promoted they were trying to use more of the trendy RPO stuff … I also think that is why they ultimately brought in Canada… and why despite his offensive scheme utterly failing, there didn’t seem to be any real front office rumbling about him being replaced until the fan and media pushback got deafening … I think canada is just following someone higher’s agenda… maybe Tomlin… Maybe Colbert trying tonleave a legacy on his way out… Maybe AR2.0…

I am thrilled he retired having only played for us… but tge reality is, when the steelers decided to go in that new direction, they should have just traded him to a contender … it would have hurt to see them do that, but he would have gotten a real chance to close out his career with success and we would have had already drafted someone to play qb.. the what ifs in that scenario are mind boggling… if we had just looked at how he was doing in 2018 with the newer stuff that we wanted to use and not all the success he was having with the older stuff we were still using and concluded then that he wasn’t mobile enough to do what we wanted then moved him prior to the 2019.. he probably goes to Tampa Bay…. Maybe Brady never ends up there… maybe with their first round pick, we take Devon White, and never blew all that capital on Bush.. or Daniel jones, and he is established as a starter now…… maybe we draft Dwayne Haskins, whom Tomlin loved… and he already played his way out of a starting role and we got pickett anyhow..,

In any case, it would have been a lot different, and probably better than keeping Ben but not really wanting him the last few years

I think Tomlin had shackles on the offense and the playcalls. Canada followed orders. When they started throwing over the middle we saw improvement. Tomlin was so scared of losing from interceptions he wouldn't allow middle throws. He is a bit more confident in Kenny now. Things might open up.

I don't like these plays we see where 2 receivers are in the same place.

I can't rule it out as a possibility. If say a coach puts out his parameter approach and that is to throw safe passes. Sure that could effect outcome positively and negatively. We don't know for sure if that is the case but can't take it off the shelf labeled under why the offense struggles.

Yep. The way that they used Ben as the fall guy for their failing system last year was a disgrace. Tomlin and Canada should have been shown the door. Had they fixed the O-line and hired a coaching staff based on actual competency instead of "other" criteria, Ben would have had at least 2 more seasons in him and we very well may have won the AFCN this year. And honestly, f*ck Kevin Colbert too.

Tomlin is directly responsible. for Ben not having 1 or 2 more SB rings.

Have your "wife's friend" produce video evidence of this incident otherwise it probably never happened.

If anyone else felt this "story" sounded familiar, it's probably because you read it, almost verbatim, elsewhere on the internet. Oh, and since we're posting credible sources, my girlfriend's friend said this story was untrue. She has no reason to make this up.

Bullfuckingshit. Ben was washed up, done. He wasnt used a "fall guy", that just your inner fanboy painting a picture you desperately want to see. Yes, Tomlin and his merry cadre of dumbasses should be shown the door, but also, Ben was absolutely done, a mere shadow of his HOF'er former self. Both can be, and are, true

Who are you, again??

Oh, I see. I'm sorry. Can somebody refresh my memory as to who it was that lead us to 4 or 5 come-from-behind victories last season? I can't remember the guy's name?

In BEN’s defense, there isn’t a QB that would have made that offense better considering the weakness of the OL and the play calling of the OC. ALSO handicapped by and why was it that they did NOT allow him to audible-ize the first 4-5 wekes of the season. His play directly mirrored what was put before him and the come-back play would be more indicative of what he really could have been.

He definitely was not a “prime” Ben, but also wasn’t some old washed up junk either. He was what the new vision of what the ****-ed up OC wanted with Coach Tomlin standing guard. Had proper play calling and using the HOFer’s strengths, you would have seen a different BEN ROETHLISBERGER instead of the one that was cheated out of his farewell season.

Salute the nation
