Big Dan to start Monday nite!!

C'mon Big Dan, let's go all Martavis Bryant on em... A few tackles, a FF and a tipped ball that leads to a pick should suffice. Along with constantly commanding double teams of course.

If Shazier can get his *** healthy and show why we drafted him ahead of Mosley and Borland this could end up being a very good draft class for us.

Shazier needs a guy like big Dan an NT for him to be good in the base D

3-4 is worthless without a great NT and a good pass rush. Hell our linebackers can not contain the edge anymore. Of course tackling is a big joke, but a great NT and at least 1 good DE?...you're in business..

Ron, I am noticing a "Airplane Theme" in recent weeks with you. :)
I have an endless database of YouTube clips.

The paper says Dan played 11 snaps last week. I'm not sold on him being able to be an every down player although I hope he works out.

he isn't a typical build for a NT, not a lot of fat so I think his conditioning might allow it

for as much as the Steelers would play any NT at least.

As with the different D alignments thrown out there...........

Just run him up the gut, what LB is going to get in his way?

I think we see the power I with Dan up front and Archer behind him. Fake hand off to Dan on the narrow side of the field pitch to Archer who is already at full speed before he gets out from behind Dan runs to the wide side of the field. They will never expect that!

Any comments on Dan's play from last week? Looks like he only played 13 snaps?

I was sure Tuitt would have unseated Cam by now, but I don't see him on the field much.

I focused on Dan during the game and thought he played well. Needs to work on his pass rush, but is great against the run. At times I thought his speed was surprising for such a big dude. One play in particular that stood out for me is when he was inches away from getting the RB about a yard behind the LOS, but the RB was just too fast for him and he just barely whiffed.

Defensive line snap counts (only had 40 defensive plays last week - which is crazy low):

Heyward - 38
Keisel - 27
Thomas - 24
McCullers - 13
Tuitt - 4

Average 2.65 Defensive lineman per play. We played base 26/40 and nickel defense 14/40 (65% to 35%).

One thing I noticed at times he was a little slower off the snap and he lost a little ground there. Positives, the man can just collapse a stretch play. Wow, he can shed his block better than McClendon or Thomas and just push the play back. I thought he fared better than Thomas at times. Let the man play some more. I like what I see in him

Dan has lots of potential and think he was worth drafting on potential alone. The games have shown him to be a raw rookie learning his craft. That is not a bad thing at this time he will need to learn how to play at the nfl level it appears he is thinking about what he should be doing next instead of doing it. Many times he is in with out moving his feet and gets stood up, it will likely take him awhile to learn and master the technique as it is not natural to move that way.
