wildcards : Sammie Coates and a concussion protocol Green. Hopefully both play and make significant plays. They are needed.

This game makes or breaks the season. It is the difference in going to the playoffs and hosting a playoff game, and sitting home contemplating what could have been.

Penalties and sloppy red zone play will need to be cleaned up.

And hopefully Tuitt will play.

They are gritty and playing hard right now, that alone with their talent can be significant.

But you have to not beat yourself, the rats know their season is at stake too.

I don't think this is the game you want to get behind and hope for a better second half.

I am excited and are hoping for a win !

Playoff game for sure. Steeler need to play their best football to beat the Ravens. Tomlin loses this matchup against Harbaugh, but if the players do well and score early we have a good chance of winning. It would be nice if Coates would consistently play up to his potential. It looks like Greens' concussion issues are very serious. The guy should quit football. His bell has been rung too many times. He will have the limited mental capacity of Brett Favre if he keeps playing. Our secondary will have to play a solid game. I would think that is how the Ravens will try to beat us.

The Rats have found a running attack especially behind Marshall Yanda and are copying the Steelers running backs catching passes on the outside. Flacco likes to throw deep jump balls for PI calls, has Pitta always open in the middle and Smith Jr catching low balls, slants and outside routes.
Somebody has to step up and beat Smith's ***, he's physical and given the opportunity will cheap shot a cover guy after the tackle.
But get Flacco in 3rd and long and put him on the ground. When in trouble he rolls right and looks for the sideline receiver or somebody like Pitta standing all by himself in the middle of the field.
Going to be tough, their Eagles game wasn't pretty and were it not for a (IMHO) bad call by the Iggles to go for 2 instead of forcing O/T, who knows?

I'm still PO'd this game is on at 4:30 on Christmas. I don't like having distractions when watching the Steelers, let alone against the Ravens, but will be competing against a house full of kids and whatnot.

We need to kick their ***** and hard! End the losing streak and get ready for the PO!

If we hold serve in Heinz against these *****, I am confident we will make a playoff run. If we get outplayed and lose to them AGAIN, then I am perfectly confident in saying there is no "what would have been". This game will be a test of our mettle.

Side note: who would have thought, by week 16, we'd be talking about a potential SB run and the offense would be the side of the ball we were questioning whether or not they could hold up their end..

War on Christmas day. Will Tuitt and Green be playing?

Its at 1:30 pacific time. Talk about a cluster ****.

Can't count on Coates, if there's any pressure from a db he's not catching the ball, the ball thrown to him yesterday, he just waited on it, if he goes and gets it, it's a PI, but that never happens. He might as well be a spectator.
We need to match their intensity first of all, yesterday Cincy took it to us early. Not only will a win give us the division, but it may knock the Rats out of the playoffs.
They shut Bell down bad in game one, but it was a garbage game plan.
We need Eli to have another good game, we need to use the slants and crossing routes more IMO, we've been getting to vertical without a vertical threat.

That #6 playoff spot is going to be an interesting one. I would like to avoid it at all costs and win the division. Don't want to even think about tie breakers and all the other bullshit we needed last year to get in.

Quoted for truth. I'm thinking of changing my travel plans and no matter what I do some are going to be mad at me. Oh well.

The NFL has been complaining about ratings all season. This game is going to get a 12 share on NFLnet, as opposed to being the only game on TV that time, would get a 26 share on network TV. Yet another dumb move by the NFL. I would bet money that the NBA game on at the same time, will get a higher rating than the NFL game.

Too bad too, since it's the best matchup in football, with both teams playing for the division! Idiots...

I think the NFL got it right by having Division games in December! These games mean something now, no time to rest players and all that BS. No doubt this is the biggest game on our schedule this year, we win and we'll be on our way! I can see us beating both Baltimore and Cleveland. Go Steelers!!!

I'd like to see more Hamilton. He has better hands than Coates and plays with an edge.

As compared to Sammie "One-trick" Coates:

If this comes down to coaching strategy Harbaugh beats Tomlin 23 to 17.

I know I'd feel better if Green wasn't in concussion protocol this week.

The truth is, even though he's only got "one trick" Coates still forces a corner and a safety to run their ***** deep when he takes off, because that's 40+ yards just like that if they don't honor the route. Even if the defense KNOWS that's the only thing Coates can or will do, they have to rotate a couple guys over there to deal with the possibility.

That leaves them with somebody to deal with Brown (and previously) Green and Bell underneath. So, even though it was 1 trick, it's a good trick.

There's usually a safety deep any ways, if anyone watches film, no way they give Coates the respect of two guys, you play off him because he isn't going into danger areas to catch anything, and unless he's wide open deep he's not catching it

I agree with this. and a lot of people don't have NFL Network.

Coates is lazy and timid. I'd rather see Rogers, Hamilton, and Ayers get bigger roles. What could have been with Bryant....

Hamilton-fights for the ball, has good hands: should be #2 imo
Ayers-Can possibly be a great slot guy, short screens or middle routes. Once he's in the open field there is no telling
Rogers-Took a pretty hard hit from less than birfecf, I hope he doesnt have alligator arms, but has reminded me a bit of Jericho Cotchery

Coates is like Wallace, both stink fighting for the ball. They have to be wide open to catch it. Soon as someone is breathing down their necks they drop it or its picked off.

Coates doesn't deserve to be compared to Wallace, not even close

That second wideout if it is Hamilton or Coates or Bey, etc..... need to get some better separation throughout the course of the game.

At this point that might be the only thing holding the Steelesr back from something special.......... .

Rather have rogers and Hamilton than Coates. Coates has no desire to catch a ball
