Blast from the past.....what’s the Toddster doing now.

For a second I thought you were talking about the poster here who went by Todd. This ***** said he was done following the Steelers because of Big Ben then he left and was never heard from again. Anyone else remember that guy?

The proof is in the pudding...what Canada did in college is irrelevant to the NFL. Your own explanation shows he could not make a QB better...but that is who we should have building with Trubiski and Pickett... Any OC that has a running game that AVERAGES 225 yards a game SHOULD be ******* successful.
And how many NFL coaches couldn't make Quarterbacks better? There are Heisman trophy winning quarterbacks in the NFL who aren't making it at all. Nathan Peterman sucked in college, and he sucks in the NFL. Canada ran the ball as it was his Offensive strength. Smart.

Look, maybe his system doesn't work in the NFL (See Chip Kelly) but I contend, and Mike Tomlin has said it outright, that they're holding back concepts and strategies. Let Canada do his thing, let Mitch do his thing, and make adjustments to personnel as you see fit.

I shared an elevator at a hotel during training camp with Haley and his wife. she is hot. hit
She's probably about 50 with about 4 or 5 kids but she could be a model.

Yes… he was magic… all you had to do was post something negative about the Pirates in any thread on any section of the board and he would suddenly appear to berate you and explain why Stingy Bob Nutting is secretly the greatest owner in the world and the Pirates are on the verge of greatness… just wait a couple more years…

He may have taken a bridge when they traded Cutch away…

I think I chased him off. I'd bag on the Pirates all the time and he'd jump in to defend them but everything I said would come true. He hated me but I think he couldn't take it any more.

the 2016 Pitt Offense scored nearly 41 points per game (40.9) ranking them 10th out of 128 NCAA teams. Canada was also a finalist for the Broyles award as top assistant coach in the NCAA.

MAN! Did he suck at Pitt or what??
Then why can't he call a decent game for the Steelers? Is Tomlin holding him back or did he forget how to be an OC! That stat totally shocks me!

Canada usually fit the offense to whatcthecteam wanted to do. In Wisconsin, he focused more on the run game… it started slowly but cumulated in a 70 point bowl game… he left for NC State shortly afterwards as a bunch of assistant coaches jumped ship there that year… … he left Pitt for LSU, then promptly got in a pissing match with their head coach and was fired after the season… he finally got to be an interim head coach at Maryland , (all his moving around was mostly chasing this goal), but the university decided to go with a clean slate to distance itself from the player heat death the former coach’s conditioning coach buddy caused…

I think the reason there hasn’t been a move made at QB or OC is that this is the offensive scheme Tomlin wants… he just wants it to be better…

The only two issues I recall with the Toddster were: 1) As already mentioned, known to be a dick and he and Ben were water and oil; 2) he would call really odd/crazy plays out of the blue that made no sense (time for a double reverse on the one or two yard line?). That being said, overall, he was a very good o coordinator. Get rid of the dick part and he would have been even better.

I would absolutely take him every day of the week over Canada. But as I have said, at this point I would let Madden Football automatic play selector replace Canada too.

Austin was available after the Marvin Lewis coaching staff fell apart. Flores available after the Miami debacle. Canada available after being fired from every job he had. Are these coaches damaged goods? Are these the only coaches that will work for Tomlin? No place else to go. Need a paycheck. Take the job with Tomlin because no body else willing to offer a job?

Would an experienced coach with 15 years work for Tomlin or prefer to try and get a head coach job?

Munchak and Haley did, I'm not sure about Munch but we know Haley was not a Tomlin hire, he didn't even know that The Bruce "retired".
I tend to think Shades doesn't want to hire anyone who might be smarter than he is. The Flores hire was a surprise in that regard but it makes sense if he was either 1) giving an unemployed bud a job and/or 2) Flores is the succession plan and Shades will retire when his current contract is up. (I'm praying to you, Baby Jesus, let it be true.)

The Flores thing was an accident
Flores calls for advice and stumbles into a job offer
