Would love to see Steelers sign him to a 2-year deal to coach up Mark Robinson. Him and Jack inside…

How do we sign Wagner and get under the cap with Jack staying on the Roster?

It would handcuff the entire Steelers free agency. Just too pricey and he is at that age that play could drop off at any specific moment. I mean I like the player just not a realistic want.

I will say one thing about the Seahawks. When they think a player is done he is done. Very hard pass.
For the most part but he has a damn good season post Cryhawks.

He and Curry have history. that is the only reason I could see that happening.

The fact that the Rams are willing to eat 7.5 in dead cap to save 5 is a warning bell for me. Still hard pass. Plus this team still isn't near good enough to need this type of guy to put them over top.

I read into that apparently they are cap crunching and being in a rebuild mode he wanted out.

A pass for me too but not due to performance.

For the reasons that have already been stated no. Also some of these more experienced players are not into "coaching guys up". They're on a team to play and compete for playing time. Not sure if that would be the case for Robinson but why go down that road.

The Steelers don't need to spend big money on an ILB. Everyone seems to want a superstar at the position when you just need capable bodies. It's not a premium position in the NFL and there are really good prospects every year in the draft in the second and third rounds. Instead the Steelers try to find special teams guys who they hope can eventually play on day 3.

I don't know about that. When you have a guy who just erases the interior run game and can take away most TEs or running backs you can tell.

I would say usually only the guys picked with the premium picks.
I just did a quick search. Here's recent first-round picks at the position.

2022
1.22 Quay Walker
1.27 Devin Lloyd

2021
1.12 Michah Parsons
1.16 Zaven Collins
1.19 Jamin Davis

2020
1.8 Isaiah Simmons
1.23 Kenneth Murray
1.27 Jordyn Brooks
1.28 Patrick Queen

2019
1.5 Devin White
1.10 Devin Bush

A few of the guys considered some of the best in the league.

2.36 Darius Shaquille Leonard
2.47 Bobby Wagner
2.58 Lavonte David
3.70 Fred Warner
3.77 Demario Davis
5.163 Matt Milano

Last year the Steelers could've got Leo Chanel in the third round. Productive in college and big-time athletic testing numbers. In 2021, Nick Bolton was there in the second round as one of the top-rated ILBs. I bring both up because both were good, productive players for the Chiefs' defense.

Jack Campbell feels like he'll be that type of player in this year's draft and no doubt the Steelers will pass on him in favor of a more athletic ILB prospect who is either undersized and can't tackle or will try the unathletic, late-round option.

I'd be up for them taking Campbell after their first pick..

nah, he was never that good.
In his rookie year he had 109 total tackles. 4 fumble recoveries. I am not saying he was elite but he hasn't come close to producing that since his injury. Damn sure wasn't looking like a bust then.

I'd rather draft a guy then get someone who is 33. Maybe if I really thought the Steelers could play for a superbowl next year and didn't need really need much.

Exactly that is the type of team he should go to. Like the Eagles or 49ers. Teams that are a player or two away.

He probably wants a ring too, if he's giving a discount is to go to a team that is a consensus favorite. For everyone else he will collect a hefty paycheck

Wagner had a very productive year with the Rams. I think he would sign a 2-year $20M deal…

Not happening with Miles Jack’s cap hit.
