"Brown-out" Sunday had nothing to do with an injury

I'm not a Tomlin supporter, but man outside of cutting the guy what more can he do to him? I'm sure he's been fined by the team. With his age, actions, and cap hit, it may be tough to find a trade partner.

I'm willing to bet AB took the bait on the leaked "cobbled together" quote from Ben that seemed to throw AB under the bus in a big way. He likely didn't realize that was two separate discussions about 2 different receivers just slammed together.

I expect AB also took exception if Ben called him out a bit during practice, particularly given his previous game and contribution.

I don't really worry too much about players getting heated during practice. They OUGHT to be fired up and emotional. The team needs a great deal more of that. And believe me NOBODY is more sick of Tomlin than me, but when he actually DOES take a stand and make a move to punish AB for conduct detrimental, folks are roasting him like a Christmas Turkey. The fact is, if he'd done nothing and let AB play, we would be roasting him for not taking a stand with AB's ****.

In other words, he probably handled this one about right. AB was disrespectful, Tomlin benched him. That sends the message, "I don't care HOW big the game is, if you can't keep your **** together, you won't be in it." Honestly I believe that is the right decision. I got plenty of things to be down on Tomlin for, this aint one of them.

We do not even know for sure if Tomlin actually benched Brown.

He may have sat himself out.

Time trade bell and brown rebuild the defense. More than happy to move juju over, start washington put Samuel in the slot and move him back in forth to the backfield with Connor like the old “split” steeler backfield. Defense wins championships and really needs some work new blood. Just sick of bell and brown, both who made their bones catching passes thrown by Ben and wouldnt be nothing if it weren’t for Ben.

It hasn’t been mentioned yet, but it will. Brown violated NFL league rules by not being in approved NFL sideline apparel at the game. It’s probably the reason why no one saw him after the start of the game. He was told to leave the field and sideline. If he didn’t go to the team box then may have, not surprisingly, left Heinz Field.

According to NFLN, he left the stadium at halftime.

I'm not 100% sure they can bring the guy back after an episode like this. He flat out quit on his team.

I'd at least open up to trade offers and see what's out there.

From the reports I've seen on twitter sounds like his jersey was ready to go and his team mates thought he was playing. I get the impression AB just quit on the team and if the case that needs to be addressed ASAP. I actually hope the case is that Tomlin sat him because if the former is the case and AB pulled himself from playing that's not good moving forward.

The way I read the report was that Tomlin was expecting AB to show up to play Sunday. The report said his jersey was all set and ready to go in his locker.
So I don't think Tomlin planned on benching him at all. The players were surprised he didn't show up to play. I could have read it wrong or read a different report though.

If that is the case then both Tomlin AND Brown really failed.

I mean really...

I agree with Cowherd. The Steelers would far and away be the most entertaining soap-opera to watch on Hard Knocks. It would be like one of those sad reality TV shows that brings back child celebrities and gives them one last shot at being on television.

Sounds like Ben told AB to knock off the diva bullshit in Wednesday practice and AB took his ball and went home. Tomlin then disciplined AB by making him a healthy scratch.

That, and more specifically, which day was JuJu named team MVP? I could see Brown pouting about not getting it and Ben telling him to STFU already. Brown needs his teeth knocked out if he's throwing furniture off a 14th story balcony and throwing **** at teammates.

This is joke. An embarrassing joke.

Yeah, Im hoping Tomlin benched him. If not, the Steelers probably need to move on from Brown.

I haven't read past the first page of this thread, what a clusterfuck this seems to be turning into.

One of the Beat photogs said he only got him during pregame warmups chatting with players from both teams. After that, he wasn’t seen again. His locker was empty after the game during press call.

When I saw AB on the sideline wearing that furr coat, I said usually you see injured players wearing sweat pants and hoody or whatever... sure enough.

"Pittsburgh Steelers players were surprised Antonio Brown didn't play in Sunday's season finale, and Brown's absence was not addressed by head coach Mike Tomlin during his meeting with the team Monday, multiple sources told NFL Network's Aditi Kinkhabwala.

Brown was not present at the team meeting, sources told Kinkhabwala, and there was frustration in the locker room that the tumultuous week was not addressed by the head coach. Brown was absent from the team's walkthrough Saturday, and a member of the organization told Kinkhabwala that Brown left Heinz Field at halftime Sunday."

No way does Tomlin get off the hook for this.. he went into details about a knee injury too which is weird.

I seem to remember another diva, Santonio Holmes, they couldn't manage him so the released him. He went on to be but a shell of the star he was in Pitt. I don't want that for Brown. Someone needs to control this team.
I get the comparison but let's please not compare Holmes and AB lol AB is on a whole other stratosphere. I don't think Brown would have any issues performing elsewhere (sans a team with a non threat at QB.)

Holmes eventually came around and understood what he had in Pittsburgh. Sadly, I just don't know if AB will ever become that self-aware. Sad.

Maybe AB went for psychological testing on Friday.

Hate to say it but AB might have had one too many shots to the head and is just not thinking rationally. Also hate to say that I would not be surprised if he gets in trouble with the law (or worse) in the near future.

The comparison was for Tomlin not being able to manage Holmes and the team having to trade him. Not the abilities of the two WRs

Do we know with any degree of certainty whether it was Tomlin benching Brown on Sunday, or Brown showing up choosing not to play? It’s kind of unclear to me from the reporting

Brown got upset that Roethlisberger wanted to run a hot read over again during a walk-through, so coaches sent another player to run the play, a source close to the situation told ESPN NFL Insider Adam Schefter. Brown got upset, left practice and talked with Roethlisberger afterward, telling the quarterback that he felt underappreciated and had issues with people in the organization, the source told Schefter.

And when the National Media gets a hold of this. it will be all Ben's fault(somehow). isn't that right Deion Sanders, you talking piece of ****

**** neon Deion.
Dude had just as much as an ego as Brown.

Steelers need to get rid of these diva ******* and go back to non attitude grinder type guys.
In essence we need more Ben and Juju type guys on offense and more Watt guys on D.

We dug our own hole this season.
Tomlin needs to grow a pair, stop coddling his boys and unleash hell.

Like obviously
