I am tired of the talking heads in the media now all of a sudden hating on Tomlin. I mean where were they 5 years ago? Nothing has changed for a decade now. Same old same old.
I think it has gotten to the point where they have to be more objective about Tomlin to maintain credibility.
The Steelers have not been a serious contender since around 2017 or so.
Though people can cite that period being near the end of Ben's prime as a big reason, it's been six years since he shredded his throwing elbow.
Other coaches have been fired for not being able to settle their QB situation in much less time. I'm not sure what makes Tomlin so special.
The lack of high draft picks excuse only goes so far in a league where we're seeing former highly drafted QBs who were considered busts resurrect their careers with different teams and coaching.
Not that Baker Mayfield, Sam Darnold or Daniels Jones would have started realizing their potential with Tomlin's "middle of the field is lava" crap, but it just reflects the impact coaching and scheme can have on the QB position.
Jalen Hurts and Brock Purdy are probably forgotten non-1st round picks had they been drafted by the Steelers. They're decent, but largely products of the systems they're in.
