Calvin the cheetah

I don’t give much stock in could A wouldA type crap. He is here now and has yet to play one official NFL snap.

I’m anxiously waiting for him to show us what he’s got and hope for full season(s) play.

SPEED can’t be coached, either you have it or you don’t.

No one can run 4.03 40. They must have had time issues on his run. Like he said he would be the fastest man alive.
The whole point is we got a guy who can fly. 4.03......4.13.....4.23...whichever. Shall be exciting to watch, let’s hope his injuries are over.

Before the commonwealth games in Vancouver (1954) the magical mark for the mile was under 4 minutes. Nobody ever thought that would be accomplished. It was believed the human body simply could not withstand that pressure. And along came Sir Rodger Bannister. The record now is 3:43.17.
Almost a full 17 seconds. An eternity in track.

Never say never. 🙂🙂

As long as he stays healthy. He should definitely contribute this year if he can stay healthy through OTA's, camp, the preseason and the season itself. If he gets injured again, his career (as we've seen in the past with rookies missing their first year) could be over before it starts. I really want to see this kid play and have a good season. He and Pickens could be the core to our future WR corps.

I'm not saying 4.03 is unattainable. I'm saying it's not going to happen at the Combine. There are track guys who live their life for sprinting. The fastest man alive is not going to be revealed at the NFL combine.

Geeeeeez Louise. And I was subtly saying lighten up when I answered. I never really thought he ran 4.03.
But he ran fast and it should be interesting to follow. Man.

I'm excited about the player. Regardless of what he really ran it's plain to see he is very quick. I would call him an x factor in the season for sure. Hopefully he gets and stays healthy. He is small and was like a thorobread that couldn't run last year.

My real feelings about CA3 is that he is like a bonus pick from this year's draft. But like they got him cheap with medical red flags. They had a Corner like that 3 or so years ago and he never played.

So a few things… first of all the tv clock is rarely aligned with real time… I’m pretty sure the nfl times are all done by automatic timers these days…

Secondly 40 yd dashes aren’t exactly freat indicators of anything in the nfl… i mean the vast majority of plays happen within 25 yards of the line of scrimmage, and straight line, long distance speed rarely comes into play
In shorter distances, those computer systems that convert gametape into mph have read CA3 at speeds up to 22 or 23 mph… stick that into a mph to 40 yd dash converter and thats like. 3.7 speed if it were sustainable over 40 yards…

Thirdly the Steelers were extra cautious with CA3 last year because it was a foot problem and his game was all speed… I’m not really worried about that injury… it was freakish and logically explained away.

He had the dreaded lisfranc injury in the warmups before tge first preseason game. He landed awkwardly on his foot… it happens.. thats a minimum of a nine week recovery period… they tried to rush him back to save the season and ultimately he had to be shut down to get surgery…. But by all measures it went well

Here is the thing… the team opted not to draft a slot wr nor did it retain Sims, so their confidence in him must be very high

We’ve seen plenty of small speed guys….see Dri Archer, Chris Rainey, McFarland. What we haven’t seen was speed guys who could put it together at the NFL level. I hope Austin becomes the exception to the others.

Exactly, Currently he’s an alleged “speed” guy who hasn’t played a single, in season, NFL down.

Here’s to full season(s), healthy - N - fast.

Meh I know that CA3 and Dri Archer had nearly the same metrics coming out of college…( CA3 is a tiny bit quicker, dri a tiny bit faster) that’s exactly why I was joking about is taking him in the third, lol…

however i do think CA3 is a little bigger than Dri was.. I know many of those official heights and weights are outright malarkey .. Dri and CA3 were listed about the same height and weight… but records of CA3 being a bit over 5’7 exist well into his college career while dri was only 5’5 as late as his jr year.. maybe he added 2 1/2 more inches as a senior or maybe he used prosthetic heels or that stupid fake head top thing to bump up his size.. he looked miniscule out there… like Darren Sproles was 5’6 and he didn’t look like a high schooler on the football field… people finger tackled Archer… I’m pretty sure his last ever play the wind blew him down lol

A lot of us here, gave him the “finger” tackle too.!!!

I always said, Dri needed to buy the grounds keepers lunch so as they would be extra diligent on making sure EVERY blade of grass was cut……..
