Cam Heyward: I don’t want to play for another coach

I am almost of the opinion that maybe they could move Andy Weidel to HC, then go out and get a couple really good coordinators to add into the mix. Some of the best “managers” I have worked for didn’t know squat about the day to day jobs, but could see how the big picture needed to come together, and how to get the most from the “supervisors” to make it happen.

I think the days of the HC being the complete architect of all things O & D as well as HC duties is over. There is just too much going on today for one person to handle. The people that need the x & o skills are the coordinators. They should be responsible for the game plan and implementing it.

Sounds like another defender that loves the lack of accountability on a Tomlin team

Now he’s a shell of his former self but still getting paid like an impact player

This team needs to jettison a tired HC and several overpaid vets (Cam, Minkah, PP, Cole, Trubisky and Allen Robinson all come to mind instantly-lotta money tied up for the production those guys bring)

Literally the second Allen slowed up to potentially make a slide the entire D quits and Allen runs down the middle

That was embarrassing and a quick snap shot of a Tomlin team-no discipline, no drive, no nasty just a bunch of soft mediocre crap which is allowed/tolerated dare I say encouraged by this inept, clocked out, just collecting a paycheck HC…the current Steeler culture

Over rated joke and the players have bathed in his identity

It's about a 19 million cap savings to Cut Heyward and Mitch but costs about 10. Honestly money wise cutting Mitch makes zero sense. If he us decent in the room he is 2million savings to cut. Terrible contract.

I agree in most, but Minkah needs to stay. Heal up in the offseason. ALSO the “D” scheme minimizes the actual impact a player such as Minkah should have. Our “D” scheme is a waste of talent.

Every time they go to two DL sets, it schemes TJ or Alex right out of their strengths.

Yep. So many thought it was a good deal to pay Mitch $7-9M for 3 years to do.....less than Rudy for $1M.

Not really sure how this works going forward, but much about the team will clarify in next few days....
 
Everyone hated Keith Butler but turns out he was D Coordinator in title only....even he admitted that MT ran the Defense. MT is not going to change and that is why we see this same movie every playoff game. He's also mentally weak and cannot handle the slightest bit of critical comments....his players are going to emulate those behaviors. As much as a prick Belichick is, he takes heavy arrows from the Boston sports media and answered everything. This joker with his 3-dollar pabulum speak going to the lab BS is way done and stupid at this point. He's an average NFL coach parading around as a Hall of Famer. IF he's a HOF coach, then what is Mike McCarthy? The Emperor has no clothes! Charlatan! Selling cough medicine as a cure for cancer. I'm done.

Buth then again part of coaching is acquiring talent.

But then again I think we have talent.

Cam was still playing at a very high level before his injury. He was still coming back from that most of the season. I know this season was hard on him physically and emotionally. If he can't get back to where he was, he needs to hang them up. Don't go play for another team.

Cam probably has one or two solid years left. I don't think he can continue to get paid for what he's done in the past and moving forward not get paid to rush the passer because even when he was playing well, he was not as strong in this area. As a run stopper, yeah, he's still very good.
 
To many games a group that want to play for Tomlin sure miss it on the field. Something is missing on this team. Cam I appreciate your take but it is time for you to retire, you have been a great player and appreciate by the players and fans but it is time.
 
IMO, the only way we replace Tomlin and not have an outright revolt on the roster is to find a guy that most players know and respect.

Brian Flores will be our guy.

He may not be worth the money next year but he was by far our best leader on the DL. Nobody else pursues downfield like this guy. I don't know what some of you are watching but Cam isn't the issue. The issue is horrible talent evaluation and development around him.
Imagine what we would look like if Tuitt hadn't retired at 29. We need a replacement for Cam and may be able to trade him away to get his dream game but we need someone to be the next Cam Heyward that plays with that kind of resolve.
As far as his comments on HCMT, he is loyal. HCMT gave him his vet days off and as an ageing player, you gotta be thankful for that.

Great players play great in the biggest games, in the most important games of their life.
Cam crapped the bed EVERY time, has put up nothing but historically bad playoff performances.
Cam folded against a Journeyman QB Blake Bortles gave up 45 in a game where Ben put up 5TD and nearly 500 yds.
Cam is 1-11 without TJ
Thats his legacy like it or not

Letting the inmates run the asylum is why we are where we are. Let them revolt, get rid of the ones that do, and rebuild from there.

I would agree with almost all the cuts except for Minkah, who has been playing hurt for most of the season, and out of position for the past 2 years.
I also disagree with Cam. Not really sure how you reduce his $$$ number and srill keep him. I do think he may have a year or maybe two left in him, if you reduce his snap counts. Without getting his $$$ number down though, he may just end up as a cap cut. Maybe they can convince him to a cut and resign with realistic incentives.

I’m afraid that Shades hears the talk that he won everything with Cowher’s team and staff and determined to show everyone that he can win a championship with his team no matter how long it takes.

I guess Cam doesn’t want a SB ring then.
He ain’t gonna get it here with Shades.
