I'm not so sure it doesnt send a worse message if nothing is done. If the Cardinals hadnt done what they did its likely the NFL would have stepped in and did something so they beat the NFL to it. As a organization that has a reputation and image to protect to ensure parents won't freak out and discourage their kids from playing the game the NFL can't have images of coaches going viral physically assaulting players on the sidelines. You have got to be ******* kidding me!
Weak, disgusting, and completely sends a bad message to these young players.
The old man here played high school ball in the late 60’s and our coaches would have been prosecuted for abuse and assault based on today’s weak *** society.
They would yell, push, punch you in the chest, scream in your face, work your *** to near heat exhaustion without water, but I’m still here 73 years later. Did it hurt us? No, it made us tough and you can bet your *** we got the message.
What that player did was ******* stupid and careless and that head coach’s actions were justified. We would have gotten our ***** kicked then sent to bench to cool our ***** down.
I’m on the side of Gannon here and think that stupid Cardinal organization just caused that HC to lose respect from his players. I hate to say this but his days there are probably numbered.
Cardinal organization is a joke!
The assumption is that this will create a trickle down affect, because what must be ok and happening at the pro level must also be OK and happening at the intermediary levels and they dont want to set that type of precedent. Society won't even allow parents to physically discipline their own children, much less allow someone else to do it. The NFL is still dealing with fallout from the CTE/traumatic brain injury scare. They dont need more bad publicity. As barbaric as the game is they can't have lawlessness associated with it also...they'll leave that to hockey.
