Cards release Hopkins

He's in the category of a Julio Jones... lost a step and in the process of losing another.
The thing is with the type of receiver DHop is, it's not that vital that he be the fastest guy on the field. He sorta 'out-bodies' the corner covering him.

There is perhaps no better WR in the entire NFL to plug in to Matt Canada's dumbass outside passing game. The threat DHop brings is an instant downfield stretch of the safeties and nickel. The 'over the top' throws that Canada calls, all the f*in time, are legit make-able with DHop in a way that they just weren't/aren't with GPick.

Sadly, DHop represents the most improvement the offense could possibly make considering Mr. Canada. JMO

He likely needs to sign a one-year prove it deal. Those are usually pretty team friendly. I wouldn't mind of Kahn kicked the tires.

It was non-guaranteed so I think he gets none of it. Team just takes the cap hit.
The 22 million was his signing bonus, an option bonus and them renegotiating his contract to push more money out last year after they signed him… it was all already paid…

Thank You SIRs. Appreciate the info.!! !

I’m always for kicking tires, but we have an ILB need that is greater than a two-step slower WR.
He may come cheap, but where the market is now, I’m thinking we could well spend our money elsewhere.

No interest at all. I’d only want him if I thought WR was the final piece to a Super Bowl.

Teams that will likely have interest

Chargers - always on outside looking in. Keenan Allen and Mike Williams have had injury issues. Hopkins could push that offense over the top and chargers can use a draw in LA.

Titans - offense has no pop and you just drafted a young QB.

Bills - possible final piece for super bowl

Jets - you mortgaged the future for Rodgers. Go all in and give him Hopkins to pair with Garret Wilson

Bears - at some point you do actually have to throw the ball. Get Hopkins and find out for sure if Field is the guy or if you need to get in the Caleb Williams sweepstakes next year.

Cowboys - they think they are close to a Super Bowl. Dak floundering a bit. Jerruh getting antsy and saw the effect of AJ Brown in Philly

Giants - just gave Daniel Jones a ton of money. Offense still lacks a true #1 WR

Ravens— have you heard that Lamar’s struggles are only because he just hasn’t had the right WRs? Lamar is a great passer. Lamar is a great passer.

I don't know how his football speed is at this point but statistically he has shown a steady decline. For me that money probably is equivalent to bringing in a coverage ILBer plus an inside corner for competition. 2 for the price of 1 we could say. Where there is arguably a greater need.

It has been said before he was kicked to the curb that the Bills and Chiefs were showing the most interest.

My guess too, someone close to all the right pieces. The Ravens will really put themselves in the “CAP” hell hole, should they decide to get him.

It would be great as that would keep the threat from the other teams we will be facing on our road to 7, and minimizing our in division threat as LaMarr Action will under utilize said WR.

Hey he is working with uncertified agents and certain he can get top 5 AAV for a wr… which is 26 mil per… few teams have that money available… remember that he was only being shopped and ultimately was released because he wasn’t happy with his deal that was going to effectively pay him 19 million this year…

The story is that teams were negotiating with Arizona until OBJ got 15 mil per… then his demands went up…. I don’t think he is reasonable… and i think he is willing to wait until someone has a wr injury to sign…

Every insider keeps saying that when he signs, its going to be for the most money he can get…

This is not a guy chasing glory in best stats or championships… he just wants paid

I don't know, being devil's advocate maybe he sees it as "if I'm gonna be in a non SB contending team I want to be paid as the best of them" but if a top team comes with the same 19M offer I'm sure he accepts it
