I read where the fellow who said "what'll you have?" passed away recently. I think he was in several Clint Eastwood movies. He was also the grizzled old prospector who unfortunately was killed off in the epic Western: "A Million Ways to Die in the West".

Didn’t give it a listen but, the DK sports guys are some of the decent ones. They’re homers but they’re pretty objective. Doug is one of the other media guys, I actively listen. Fan sites are seldom critical which lends to questions regarding objectivity. Unfortunately, expository and critical journalism doesn’t work in sport or our twenty-first century world, unless, it’s a sex scandal. The good stuff is meant to prompt dialogue and foster critical thinking. It seems to be by the wayside. Now the game is about clicks. That’s all about headlines and creating an immediate sort of visceral reaction, a dopamine hit.

If Howard’s development was coming along well, there wouldn’t have been an Allar selection, at least not in the third. That pick didn’t hint at value, it screamed reach. If Howard was a serviceable backup and they were high on Allar, Rudolph would’ve been dealt pre-draft. A little bit of critical thinking led to the conclusion that they were throwing darts. Regardless of Rodgers’ future decision, it’s still FUBAR.

As long as Rooney is owner “success” is a pretty easy mediocrity bar to jump over.

MM is a 1 contract, 2 max, HC

The definition of “win now” to this owner is very attainable with Rudy, Allar or Howard imo. The OL will be better, the weapons better, and the defense better. Not really hard to surpass the mediocrity Rodgers was bringing, so very few reasons of legitimate logic to bring back a washed has been.

And the Raiders and their misguided franchise mean zero in the Steelers equation.

Should we pattern ourselves after the Stains? Also irrelevant to the Steelers equation.

**** Rodgers, he won’t elevate or propel the Steelers to winning, so why cling to the 🦕? At some point the plan for a future must begin. Rodgers 1000% is NOT that.
 
Are we waiting for Ben Jr “Little Ben” (the 2033 draft) or Bodie (the 2037 draft) ???

Sure will if no balls Art keeps making dumb *** decisions for the franchise. Riding these decrepit dinosaurs is going nowhere.

Well…the offseason is pretty much a wrap, no more excitement from this dead franchise until the next offseason when the convo can begin again.

Or they don’t go with Rodgers and start building a future…something worth a fan investing their time and watching the product.

In my opinion, other than Unforgiven and maybe Gran Torino, it’s Eastwood’s best work as a director and starring actor. Interesting tidbit, unbeknownst to Eastwood and the production staff, The Outlaw Josey Wales was based on a book written by a segregationist, Klan organizer, and speech writer for George Wallace. As a second act, the author, Carter, wrote under a pen name and anonymously submitted the idea. Carter’s death was originally listed as a heart attack, but, supposedly, he got into a drunken brawl with his kid and choked on his own vomit. There’s something karmically ironic about it. On another point, after I re-read this, I got some weird Patrick Bateman, Paul Allen, Huey Lewis and the News vibes, so, yeah.

Sorry, our owner is NOT a senile owner. He is a 3rd generation business graduate who is increasing the value of his franchise by being ahead of then NFL Means. Long way from senility.

M y hope is his son Dan can take over sooner than later. Dan has started from the ground and has worked his way through the ropes to be a wider educated football man. Groomed may even come into the conversation.

When this current President steps down, I feel / hope he is passing the team into a more football capable, yet business capable owner. The Franchise has to succeed fiscally in order to succeed football-wise.

While Art wants to win, he's more afraid of losing. There are enough fans more interested in individual player success that they find 10-7 and a 20+ point loss in the playoffs acceptable each year. Then there's the segment that find not winning a playoff game in a decade unacceptable. Art is catering to the former.
