-Despite Julio Jones size @ Speed, Ike Taylor should not start vs him b/c Julio will eat him alive, start Brice Mccain AND PLAY Troy or Blake over the top on him all game. Ike only play's press for the 1st 5 yds and releases in the nickel and dime, and plays over the top on Julio.
- Dress Archer and try to get him in the passing game on some screens and easy in @ out routes.
- Play Mcullers more he was in-movable when in the game, their OL sucks especially in the middle so attack there hard.
- Stop lining Worlids as a MLB for a dbl loop blitz leave him on a edge and let him battle the RT.
- use more no huddle, must dress Shazier and play him as he can cover a ton of space and take away those simple slant, @ dig routes Roddy loves.
- continue to use more creative blitzes they have a piss poor OL.

DB rotation should be
base
LCB McCain
RCB Gay
slot Blake

nickel zone coverage LCB Taylor press n release on Julio and Mccain and Troy/another S take over
RCb Gay
Slot Blake/Shazier

dime
Extra DB's Taylor @ Blake 3 S look cover 3

LCB McCain RCB Gay slot Blake S left S Mitchell CF Polamalu over Julio Taylor

I would be tempted to stay with what worked well this game personnel wise and the game plan unless it puts us at distinct mismatches where we are on the negative side of the mismatch.

Taylor should NEVER see the field again. It's NOT a coincidence that immediately after that jackass is taken off the field, the defense plays dramatically better. For that matter, keep Gilbert's butt on the bench as well.

Man have some respect. Calling Ike a jackass is wrong. Dude might be nearing the end of his career but him, Troy and Clark was a staple for almost a decade back there.

These guys helped bring multiple championships to Pittsburgh.

Time is a ***** and will catch up with you eventually. Ike was a great Steeler and will be remembered for his dedication to the team.

I still remember his 1st start against Chad Johnson and Ike shut em down...it wasn't a fluke as he drew the opponents best wr for the next decade.

Sorry, but bullshit. Ike was NEVER a staple of the defense. At best, he was average, and that was a LONG time ago. I think our CB play as been so bad for so long, Steeler fans no longer know what good CB play is. He has lost more games for us the last three years than I can count. And yes, I am sick of his stupid "swagging" attitude. Every time he's burnt, he acts like it's not his fault. His penalty last week, for being a JACKASS cost us big time. The quicker he's gone, the better.

Ike was never the staple of the defense? Him, Troy and Clark held down the back end for a decade dude.....remember how bad Willie Gay was? Got ran over by Peterson ? Gay is doing great now but don't take away Ike accomplishments.

If Ike had even average hands he would've been in multiple pro bowls and would be ranked right behind Blount and Woodson.

Uh...Gilbert's butt is and has been 'on the bench' and Adams is playing in his spot with great embarrassment to the football audience in general. Nowhere in anybody's game tapes will you find a worse display of football incompetence. Adams looks like one of them guys they put in a booth filled with dollars bills flying around. I watched him as much as I could stand Sunday and he got owned, mauled or embarrassed on just about every play. I don't think it was any coincidence that our best running plays were away from wherever Adams was and if it was up to me I would put him back sitting on the tailgate of his truck on the south side somewhere..permanently !

Right on! There are people here who just delight in taking someone's accomplishments away-and I'm not sure why. I think Ike is already right behind Blount and Woodson and would have started for any Steeler team I can remember (since 1947). As for Gay he got rapped for being run over by Peterson and not defensing Gronk. Tells you something about the "critics". And I'd have to include the ones who have refused to acknowledge Timmons.

Taz and bmoritz are both correct.

Ike WAS a very good corner for a long time (not one of the best, but very, very good - except for his hands).
Ike should never see the field again, unless in a backup role or as a converted safety who can't catch.

Ike could never catch a cold but he was a very good CB for a long time. His time is over but that shouldn't diminish what he did in the past.

Playing in a dome we have to score early and quiet the crowd. Last time we played there Vick killed us in OT, Ben got KTFO and Santurdio was muffing punts. AB should pass Hines season record for catches in a season this weekend. Ben needs 2 TDs for 250 in his career. Lots of milestones from this offense.

The Oline kept Ben standing up for most of the game, I think they deserve a little credit, especially DeCastro and Beachum who helped a lot on the running game

I agree we need to score early, but the problem is when we play these bad teams on the road we come out with the most conservative game plan, we don't throw down field. We run. Runs up the middle and punt, or we attempt a 3RD down pass and it's a stupid bubble screen, kind of like vs Cincy. There's nothing wrong with coming out with a fast paced offense, and throwing to set up the run.

Can we bring out our 05' AFCD playoff gameplan v the Colts? Throw to setup the run? I think if we're aggressive early and set the tone we can find our openings and continue to be explosive on offense. We need to finish our drives.

If Adams was so terrible how did Ben barley get hit and have plenty of time to make throws.

Because he either had Miller or Speath covering him or they ran away from him. They ran 18 times to the left side where Bell gain all but 10 of his yards. They also threw short so the OL didn't have to block long. They had 8 carries for 10 yards on the right side.

If I remember correctly Ike was on the field for the all the defensive plays in the first quarter in which carrot top and friends put up ZERO points. You and I will disagree regarding Ike being a jack *** and not being a big part of the teams defense during his time here. He has been a good player and spent much of his career taking away the other teams best receiver. He is now getting to the end of his game and pulled himself due to some injuries that were affecting his ability to perform. Now with what we have on the team and the dissatisfaction being expressed with the play of Ike and Troy and Mitchell what three players do you have on the roster to take their spots?

Adams is not good, I don't think anybody's debating that. But IMHO, he's been outplaying Gilbert.

Fair enough Wingman. As far as CB, Gay, Blake, and McCain are all better than Ike now. I think Allen was just as good (bad?), but he's out of the picture. Honestly, I'd put Webb out there before Ike. You're right about Troy and Mitchell, both of which have played like crap this season. It pains me to say it about Troy, but he's done. I'm still holding out some hope for Mitchell that another offseason will do him well. But you're right, we have to finally start taking the secondary seriously when it comes to the draft and FA. We've been putting it off for way too long.

A trend that needs not change is that we have had four straight games with 5 or fewer penalties. In the first 9 games of the season, we had 6 or more in every game and four of those games included double digit penalties. (This is total committed, regardless of whether accepted or not.)

So when we get more than 5 penalties next week I blame that ****** Ark....

Ike may not start again. He took himself out of the game because he couldn't cut it. Those were his own words. My guess is he is a back up of some sort or even a safety in upcoming games.

Agreed, even Foster has played better and I have ranted about Adams enough, y'all go back and watch for yourselves..you'll see.

OFFENSIVE LINE: The Steelers dominated the line of scrimmage, allowing Bell to average 7.1 yards per carry. The line also allowed Roethlisberger enough time to throw for the 11th-year veteran to take control of the game after the first quarter. The Steelers were particularly effective running left behind pulling right guard David DeCastro. Tight ends Heath Miller and Matt Spaeth also merit mention here with the contributions each made as blockers. Grade: A

Yes, Ike has not been playing well the last 2 years. But for YEARS before that he shut down the other teams #1 rec. If Taylor didnt have the worst hands of any football player ever, and caught even half of the int's that he could have, we would be debating his HOF credentials.
