So they don't have a sauna, big deal. With what players win they can buy one for their backyard

**** JuJu on his comment, he is no longer a STEELERS player, so he means jack-**** in his opinion.

Tomlin removed the ping pong table. The players should be unhappy.

I think that was at Latrobe. If they took them out here in Pittsburgh as well, then there is all "Turning lose HELL" to pay.

Holy ... The players are saying that the facilities are subpar, the training staff is understaffed, and that better is needed. Some of y'all have been harping on Tomlin's staff being lite. But, let it come down to the owner not investing in staff and facilities and it's a big "yawn".
Every year we have a run of soft tissue injuries. Maybe, just maybe, if the owner invested in modern equipment, facilities and enlarged the training staff, we could lower those instances. Maybe, with all of the above, TJ doesn't injure his pec in the first game of last season. I mean, we don't know for sure, but, it sure would be nice to eliminate poor facilities and understaffed trainers as a reason for our recent injury bugs.

There has been call for staff upgrade for quite some time now. We have had our more than fair share of injuries in the last 10 years.

Remember when the "groin" injury was so at large that some here wanted training staff beheaded...........

I would venture to say that if Coach Tomlin walked into Art 2 office and said “I’d like to hire two more assistant coaches”,…

Art 2 would give him the go ahead…………

DIC ... I took this quote from another thread. But, given the results of the players' survey about facilities and the fact that ARll is rumored to never want a coach released before their contract expires, are you sure about this?
Seems to me that Deuce, unlike his father and grandfather, has gone the cheap route when it comes to running the team.
"Bizness decisions".

This was about the player’s reaction to understaffing in the training room, inadequate weight room, outdated locker rooms, not to mention they have the smallest coaching staff in the league. Tell you anything about Art? Sounds to me like he’s running this like Mike Brown did in Cincy until his children started taking control.
Art is not with the current NFL and thinks things are like when his father was running the operation years ago.The Steelers are behind the better organizations in the league in a lot of areas. Add scouting as well!
The ideas are very archaic in Steeler land and this puts us several steps behind the better organization. Who else holds onto a mediocre HC and horrible OC expecting different results year after year.
Things most likely won’t change until the next generation comes along or Art sells the team which he won’t. He’s just happy the team is making money that’s first and foremost in Art’s eyes. Starting to sound a whole lot like another franchise in the city.

Myself, I just found it interesting where the steelers RANKED in the different categories.

I think I was referring more to "on field" type staff, not training facility / staff.

EDIT: I'm NOT sticking up for Art2 at all. This team has gone downhill since Dan has left the building and part of that reason is lack of spending. They don't even have a family room for daycare during game day. That is way behind the times.

Oh, I understood that part. But, if Deuce is unwilling to pay the lower salaries of a few additional training staff members, there's no guarantee he'd be up for paying additional assistants. In fact, since the Steelers have had one of the smaller on field staffs in the NFL for awhile, it would seem that Deuce really isn't into paying more than a skeleton staff.

Of course I think they should be fully staffed with the best equipment.

I also think players should keep themselves in top physical conditioning year round. The deconditioned athlete is easily injured when asked to perform at
the highest level. Your body and skillset are your livelihood.

I was building a guillotine in my backyard…..

As far as a lack of assistants or inadequate training equipment, no excuse. The day care for kids on game day, maybe he's just old school and believes that if you're going to bring your kid to the game, let them enjoy it with you not to mention the liability issue of hiring people to watch and keep your children safe.

I agree with this. The training and weight room staff should be top notch. No day care is a lame complaint as is the locker room. Then again, these guys are coming from colleges with facilities better than every single NFL team while the Steelers have a simple, no frills, old-school locker room.

I never, ever heard of poor facility etc. during the JAMES HARRISON days here. Maybe these new “***** mamA-boys” are just whiners?

I know JAMES HARRISON teams were a hell of a lot tougher, mentally and physically, than today’s team.

LOT to unpack here.....

Some of the categories are generic.
"Treatment of families".
If the players are saying the Steelers don't send their wives and kids presents on their birthdays - quit being an entitled millennial and go cry to Dr. Phil.
If the players are saying they bring their wife/kids/parents/siblings to the game and Art II greets them with a "Go F yourself, you locusts and leaches", then yeah, they have a leg to stand on.
Now, my humble opinion, the staff and facilities should be top notch. There's no salary cap on staff and/or facilities. I would think as an owner you'd want every competitive advantage you could have in training/conditioning/feeding your players.
BUT, are players mad they aren't serving fresh caught belly tuna (toro) and 23 year old Pappy VanWinkle by individual manservants while they chill in a float tank?
I'm all for technology and isolating specific areas of the body for training and rehabbing, but sometimes you don't need uber fancy.
I go back to Rocky IV where the training montage is showing Drago all high tech and Rocky is kickin' it old school.
Two different ways. Both are effective.

Listen, I'm NOT excusing the organization, and know there is a TON of room for improvement.
As mentioned by other posters, our piling up of seemingly preventable injuries over the years is proof enough that somethings and or some staff need serious upgrades.
But we need way more context.
I LOATHE surveys like this that are too generic and general that don't get to the root problem and leave too much to interpretation that an owner/organization may just scoff at it instead of investigating and researching.

I'm going to guess a lot of these facilities are luxury-type options. If I'm investing, I'm investing into the people in my organization. Give me a world class staff to help prepare the players each week and provide them with the necessary tools to do so. A cushy chair and LED lights around the locker room don't achieve either. We'll see if Rooney makes any changes as the result of this survey.

The typical players of today, they don't hardly practice so why do they need anything but a shower. They have been spoiled since pee wee football especially if talent shows. We all have been to college and could tell stories of the treatment towards the sports world.

I hear yayz black and gold apex.

The weight room needs to be high quality because a lot of our players live right here in Pittsburgh and work out year round there. That part needs to be very very good.

That also goes to the re-hab of all injuries from day to day to the more serious kind. There should be a happy mix but better than being ranked near the bottom of nfl facilities.

fedderone says it well in that a better survey with transparency needs to be done. Also all players league wide participate in survey from a home & visitor perspective of the stadiums they have been in that season.
