Chico!!!!!! Game ball to Mason and Najee

He also didn’t play that game in a freezing monsoon, where everyone was dropping the ball. Except for the one guy, who always seems to drop it when it matters.

KP did play in a game where everyone was dropping the ball....Ravens players.
What I would like to see from Mason is a clutch 4th qtr. comeback win.

But then again, I wouldn't because I want to always be winning comfortably.

Well, it may not have been come from behind but Mason did put the Steelers in front in the front with a 71 yard touchdown pass in the 4th quarter

Unless they get into the playoffs and something crazy happens with Rudolph leading the way, I think it would be foolish to just hand him the job going into next summer.

As well as he has played, the sample size is just too small. I think the ideal scenario is that he competes with Pickett in Latrobe.

Whether he would be willing to do that, wondering whether he would get a fair shake of it against the recent 1st round pick, is the big question.

Regardless, I'd rather bring him back than sign Russell Wilson, who is 8 years older, hasn't been particularly good in awhile, and will command a lot more money/cap space

Methinks Mason goes into training camp as QB 1 next year. Regardless of the remainder of this season... well, more that we're going to the playoffs my assessment could change.

And, no, I'm not drinking...

I am thinking that is how it goes too. At a minimum, if the Steelers want Mason back now they are going to need to promise a TRUE 1-1 qb competition and come out of pocket. If we get to the playoffs (/knocks on wood) and we win a game ... well the cash is going to grow a lot more and things will get even cloudier. I am ALL FOR things getting much much cloudier.

And he (KP8) sure as heck didn't set a franchise record with a 90% completion rate in those conditions. Heck, Rudolph executed "the Kenny plan" of taking the outlets/dump offs better than Kenny does at present.
That said, I hope they can bring Rudolph back next year AND that KP8 takes the offseason to work on his deficiencies and comes back as a better version of himself. Having two competent QBs would not be a bad thing.

Here is what I'm confused about. Mason played a good game, but Pickett had more yards against the Ravens starters under Canada without a running game. I'm not taking away from Masons playing but some seem to forget Pickett beat the Ravens starters. Mason had one big play a slant. Pickett hit a tougher throw late in the 4th with the Steelers trailing. Mason is playing well and i think you have to roll with him, i just don't understand the Mason slobbering and Pickett hate
It comes down to two words - poise and confidence! The confidence is not Mason's confidence - it's the team's confidence in him! This team is completely different with Mason at the wheel - they are playing their ***** off for him! I am firmly convinced that the TD to Harris last year was not intentional. I think Pickett was trying to hit the WR coming across (not sure if it was DJ or Austin). But... his throw would have been way late and maybe picked off by the trailing DB had it not been for the fortunate move that Harris made heading to the endzone. I have my doubts that Kenny even saw and anticipated Harris!

Mason won't be in the Burgh next year. Guy is gonna go somewhere where he has a legit chance to be a no. 1. That ain't here with MT.

Hey thanks for the shoutout! I'm here.....I just got done watching the game....Unfortunately these Saturday games and the holidays with my work have made it impossible for me to watch in Real-Time....hence the absence of Game Balls, Game Goats & FU's....I'm still here....and I'll keep em coming in the future!

Real quick..... from what I just got done watching......

Game Balls:
Mason Rudolph - 18 for 20 152 yds 1 TD in that slop tonight! I'm happy for Mason that he's finally getting his chance. He certainly hasn't disappointed in 3 games! I honestly think tonight was his best game of the 3. Not statistically but against a good defense he made good decisions and safe throws tonight. I really hope the Steelers get into the playoffs because I think they can shake things up with this running game and Mason at QB. Heck going into next season....at this point....Mason could be the starter!
Najee Harris - Plays his *** off out there....good at securing the football too! Gotta pickup his 5th year option or sign him long term in the off-season
Dionte Johnson - Nice catch and run for a TD to put the Steelers up for good to start the 4th Quarter
Darnell Washington - I gotta give him a shoutout because his run blocking when he is out there is a difference maker! I just wanna see him catch one in the open field someday!
TJ Watt - 8 tackles, 2 sacks, Defensive MVP without question! I hope his injury is not serious because we need him if there's a game next week
Erik Rowe - 12 tackles tonight! This guy was picked up off the scrap heap! He's a legit starter at Safety opposite Minkah Fitzpatrick! I hope Rowe comes back next season!
Mark Robinson - 5 tackles including his first career sack tonight!

Game Goats:
Pressley Harvin - After 3 seasons I'm done with this guy! 25 yd punts & shanks happen all too often with this guy! He's gotta go!
Jaylen Warren - Too many fumbles tonight....I had visions of Richard Huntley watching Jaylen tonight. Gotta take better care of the football Jaylen

FU's:
Mike Tomlin - Yeah he's getting one for sticking with Mitch Trubisky for 3 friggin horrible games including 2 losses against teams with a 2-10 record! Mason Rudolph is a big reason this Steeler team finished the season 10-7 & not 7-10!
And a big FU goes out to the officiating crew.

The grass isn't always greener on the other side. He's certainly made a hell of a showcase for himself in 3 games. If the Steelers make the playoffs and he starts again, wins a playoff game, that puts him in a great position to cash in.

I’m not sure Mason is back next year. He might decide to go elsewhere.
I will argue that he will look to sign with a team that gave him a chance and are now choosing him over the franchise QB.

Last offseason he sat until the start of training camp as a free agent. No one wanted him, the Steelers smartly signed him. Now we're looking at a multi year deal being signed before the start of free agency. Trubisky will be gone and the Steelers gain $3M by cutting him.

If he's offered a chance at open competition to start in Training camp, he's a Steeler. No other team in the league will give him that option.

I cringe when people attribute wins to QBs like Pitchers in baseball. (I’m actually not a big fan of attributing wins to pitchers either.) Football is the ultimate team game. Sometimes teams win because of their QBs and sometimes they win despite them. It’s not a two game season. Simply put, Mason’s three starts have been more impressive than Pickett’s twelve starts. Pickett had a QB rating <80 in six of them.

The team had definitely lost confidence, but seemed to happen after Pickett got hurt. We had a good game the previous game and the team was riding high, but then AZ smacked us back to reality. With Mitch both sides of the ball were terrible. Mason has played 2 very bad defenses and 2nd / 3rd stringers. The Ravens started getting a push in the middle of the game and the offense went to hell for a bit. We were able to run all over the 2nd D of the Ravens which Pickett didn't have the luxury of. We don't know what Pickett would have done against the Ravens backups. I do agree Mason has been very steady and poised, but he had also not faced the pressure the other guys have. I think you have to roll with Mason unless he really struggles then have a truly open competition.

I’m not completely sure Mitch is gone next season. There are scenarios I have thought about in which he stays and scenarios that he is gone. If Rudolph elects to stay or they find another option they think they like better back up or a starter option-Mitch is not here.
If Mason signs elsewhere, there’s a good chance that Mitch will be back 2024. I know-it sounds insane but there is a realistic possibility he is here.

You realize things, like front office personnel opinions on players, can and DO change over time, all the time, right? All I keep reading on here is "well laaAAaASsst year nobody wanted him so that means blah, blah, blah...". If we end up making the playoffs, you can be sure that some qb-desperate team is gonna throw a deal his way that the Steelers will balk at (Commanders, Falcons, etc), and he'll be on his merry way outta Pittsburgh, and we very likely will see him taking snaps as the starter elsewhere on opening weekend.

Hopefully the Steelers will have done their homework on QB's entering the draft, slated for rounds 3-6

I just don't see them having confidence in Mitch as a back up anymore, given how he played for them when called upon this year. He was beyond bad.

I could be wrong, but I just don't see it. If Rudolph leaves, I see them bringing in someone else to either compete with Kenny or back him up.

We can only hope

I would love to know what really was going on and said when it looked as though Rudy gave Tomlin the brush back. If it was a get away from me move, there is no way he comes back next year

You talking about during the game? If so I think that was just a moment trying to focus in on the play...

Yes, in the game. When I saw it, it looked like Sully and Rudy were making plans when Tomlin tried to push in. Rudy gave him the brush back, get away push. He may not have realized who it was.

I would like to believe he knew it was Tomlin, and told him to “go sit down, we don’t need your BS input”.
