Coaching to his fears

I am well over Tomlin’s cliche comments. When we punted we had no chance to win the game! Everyone gets enamored with Tomlin’s little canned quips but in reality he says nothing and makes poor decisions all the time!

One more time,

we punted on 4th and 1 on our own 34 with 8 and a half minutes or so to go.

The raiders punted it back to us with 5:51 to go… that is plenty of time to score, hold them, and score again…

we did get the field goal we needed and had 3:42 and a timeout… all we needed was a defensive hold and we get the ball back with a minute and change…
There was nothing wrong with the strategy, just the execution…

Do the ******* qb sneak in 4th and inches. Big Ben is a tower of a man and can easily get that 1st down. He gets hit more when throwing anyways

******* AAaaaaaa !!!!

Tomlin has been here 15 seasons now and what I see is a very average NFL coach, period. Nothing at all special! He does not do any one thing exceptional but many things average to below average.
He had the great fortune of inheriting a very good team with a young super bowl winning QB and two damn good coordinators in Lebeau and Ariens. He was continually stocked with good players over the years but after the 2010 SB loss as coordinators left, inherited players retired or left he had one constant, Ben who kept Tomlin’s head above water. Colbert continued bringing in good talent but it was squandered with poor preparations, overlooking weaker teams, looking ahead to other opponents, being intimidated by
his nemesis the Patriots, poor decisions, lack of game adjustments, stubbornness. excuses and blaming others, and so on. The guy is an average coach who was handed the best job in sports and really has not gotten any better over the years.
A few of us figured out a while ago that he is basically Marvin Lewis with a better owner.

Yes. We stopped them the next series because they went conservative to burn off more clock. We pretty much had not stopped them the whole day! Yes 5:51 left on the clock and down two scores was doable if we had our full compliment of timeouts. However, even though we got that unlikely field goal, if they get one first down on their next series the game is over. So what do they do? They throw for the first down just as they had been doing the entire game because we could not stop it. We only stopped them the after the punt because they went conservative.

It was not even a full yrd and we were having trouble stopping them all day and had injuries all over the place on D. You are relying on the D to get at least 2 stops and the offense needed 2 scoring drives in 8.5 mins. That is a little over 2 mins / possession and asking a lot. If we made the first and ended up scoring we would have only needed 1 stop and one score

We have a center who is great at getting downfield but isn’t good against bull rushes yet… and a line that is missing blocks enough to be a problem and I believe turner was already out… the top two tes have had blocking issues too… what in the world gives you and faith they could convert that there?

Again they were on their 34 yard line and got it back 2.5 minutes later on their 32… if they went for it and failed, the game was basically over and if they made it, there was no sure bet they would score

Its not like he passed up a chance on their 40 to punt there… or even tge 50…

It was a certain field goal try for the raiders if they failed… it was the right strategic move there

Tomlin’s clock management ineptitude continues. The Steelers stopped the Bengals on 3rd down with 7:15 left. Down by 14 with all three TOs left, Tomlin let :49 tick off the clock while the Bengals punted.

He's working on 12 years out of 16 without a playoff win. Pretty much a spot on comparison.

Just listened to two minutes of Tomlin radio show, all I can say is wow a senator in the making
Why not POTUS? Too bad there's no one backstage to pull the plug on Tomlin the HC's pressers.
