College Football Week 1

Did any of the top QBs do well other than Nussmeier? Allar did ok, but he was playing cupcakes. On a side note Allar was 22/26 with 216 yrds and a TD which = 39.4 QBR. The backup was 7/9 for 86 yrds 0 TDs which = 88.7 QBR. I don't think anyone should be using QBR to compare QBs

I feel like Bama got a first year post Saban prop up to keep them relevant. They are going to the scrap heap now. But too good a program to keep down. Might be a coach or two but they will be back. Maybe Ill like them then.

QBR is utter crap.. an analyst attaches a total points value to every play then grades the qb by his decision all without knowing the play call or design... so famously two qbs can line up in that same formation, run the same play with the same results and get grossly different QBR's from it

Subjective stats like QBR and 80% of what PFF does are trash

Another QB people should be keeping an eye on this year is Austin Simmons at Ole Miss. Third year, 19 years old, sat two years behind Dart. I’ve mentioned him before, really under the radar of pre season QB standouts.
Looks like he had a decent game, little high on the INTs..

Passing

A. Simmons

20 to 31 Completions to Attempts, 341 Yards, 3 Touchdowns, 2 Interceptions

Klubnik is a day 3 QB. Nussmeier is interesting.
I liked what I saw from Nuss a pure pocket passer.

He gets my early nod.

Will watch Sellers tonight.

QB Mateer from the Sooners had a decent game.

30 to 37 Completions to Attempts, 392 Yards, 3 Touchdowns, 1 Interception

He’s got a full season to develope and options as to wether to declare or not.

Salute the nation

Getting paid 6-6.5 million to develop doesn’t suck, must be nice to get those NiL checks

I’m sure he’s in no rush to likely go to an awful team.

Ya had me at PFF is trash 🤣

One of my favorite QB prospects Taylen Green had himself a solid opener.

24/31 322 yards and 6 TDs
9 rushes for another 41 yards

Vs a tune up opponent in Alabama A&M
First of many great games I expect from the kid tho

I give arch some slack. First real start, first game of the year, on the road, and against maybe the best defense in the country, but he flat out missed several throws. OSUs QB didn't do anything special, but he outplayed Manning.

At one point, Sayin was 3-7 with 4 drops, he didn’t get a lot of help from his receivers. Also dropped one in the bucket to Innis in tight coverage but he couldn’t come down with it. He’s very accurate.

100% disagree. Dropped passes ding a QB’s passer rating, but not PFF grade. Objective stats are great for fantasy football, but coaches rely on subjective grades.

Passer rating is what fooled so many Steeler fans that Trubisky was good. In 2018 he had a 95.4 rating, but was 32nd in PFF. There was also a preseason game in Fields last year in Chicago where fans were raving about his perfect passer rating. He literally threw two bubble screens that DJ Moore took 50+ yards for touchdowns.

PFF correctly assigns credit to players on a play. Homework assignment:

QB A throws a pass directly to a defensive back, but it pops off his hands and the receiver catches it and runs 80 yards for a TD.

QB B throws a perfect pass to his receiver, but it pops off his hands and the DB catches it and runs 80 yards for a TD.

Which QB was better on their respective play? Think process, not results.
