College Football Week 1

Miami should be up more. They keep shooting themselves in the foot in key situations.

ACC looking good so far. FSU handles Bama. Miami so far dominating ND. Clemson played LSU tight. Va Tech was tight with South Carolina most of the game.

Miami has a shaky kicking game and yet they seem content to just play for FGs in the 4th.

exciting first game of season..
The fighting Irish kept fightin and almost pulled it off..
Congrats to Miami ..
They have some studs and could be playoff bound..
CJ got better and better as the game went on.. I see talent there..
The Aggies visit south bend in two weeks..should be another competitive game..
Go Irish!

Miami sure tried to lose that one going conservative in the 4th. Beck was in a zone and they went safe. I think they ran the ball on 2nd and 1 multiple times. That's the prefect situation to take a shot.

I won't declare the U is back yet. It would be just like them to go lose to South Florida

Maybe..
I wasn’t happy with NDs play calling either..
But they were trying to protect the freshman QB..

Heck of a football game. ND fought back but the Cane came through when they needed to. They will probably flipflop rankings.

Ok who are the next two opponents for Penn State?😏
First of all, regarding Nevada: That game was scheduled way back in 2017. It was to be played in 2020, but was postponed until this year because of COVID. The Wolfpack actually went to four straight bowl games from 2018 to 2021. Kind of hard to predict what sort of opponent PSU would have eight full years later, don't you think? Of course Nevada is not a powerhouse program, but they're not Kent State, either.

FIU was added just last year. Not sure why that is, but generally these out-of-conference games are scheduled much more than one year in advance, so most likely Penn State needed a replacement on fairly short notice.

Villanova is an FCS team, but they are a good second division program. This game was one of two with the Wildcats scheduled in 2018 (the other was played in 2021). Villanova makes the FCS playoffs about half the time, and has won 10 games in each of the last two seasons. They are located near Philadelphia, so they are a regional opponent. Lots of bigger programs do this.

Any other questions?

I get it now...

Penn State's OOC is weak but the overall strength of schedule is ranked top 30.

If his last name were Sanders, with those numbers he would be talked about as being the favorite for the Heisman.
Manning is / was the Heisman favorite. Sanders put up consistent gaudy numbers from the start in college so not really sure what you are getting at. At CU he averaged over 300 yrds / game and for his career was at almost 290. He has a 70% career completion % and an almost 5 to 1 Td/int ratio. You can say what you want about Sanders, but he had a great college career.

Oregon and Ohio State will be in the top 5. At Iowa is always a tough game. Indiana and Nebraska are no slouches, and Michigan State is much improved this year.

Penn State has the talent to beat them all and finish the regular season at 12-0. But will they?

I think i'm rooting for Penn State to go 12-0 then lose the Big 10 title game so they do not get a playoff bye. I think that bye is dangerous. I'd rather they be seed 5 or 6 and get to host the 11 or 12 seed as a warmup.

Not a lot of elite NfL defenders coming out of the Big 12.

BYU, Baylor, Houston, Utah, Cincinnati, Arizona State, West Virginia, Kansas and Texas Tech combined for ZERO players even drafted on defense.

Only 7 total defenders even drafted from that conference with 4 in the top 100…so a few teams had 1 day 2 pick and there was Travis Hunter, the one elite defensive player in the conference.

The college game is different and he was set up to have a good college career playing vs those trash defenses. The NFL is a different game.

Heck guys like Tim Tebow and Stetson Bennett had better college careers than Sanders.

He’s just a guy, a JAG with a dumb dad.
