College Football Week 10
College football coaching moves is the biggest story right now. Cignetti cashed in with a new deal. Matt Rhule just got a new extension at Nebraska. Brian Kelly was fired at LSU, apparently by the Governor.
Will Lane Kiffin jump ship to LSU, Florida, or Penn State? Gambling websites now have Louisville HC Jeff Brohm as the favorite for Penn State. He did a great job at Purdue before going back to his alma mater.
With so many vacancies, it's a bad year to need a new coach and a great year to be an agent. Lots of coaches will get raises just to stay put.
Preseason, this weekend looked like one of the best in years with a bunch of huge ranked matchups, but it hasn't worked out that way.
Penn State at 1 Ohio State 12:00 FOX OSU -19.5
Penn State and Ohio State have played every year since 1993. They won't play again until 2028.
Penn State is coming off a bye where they closed practice Willy Wonka style and were supposedly installing new plays. I'm more concerned that they have Oompa Loompas at DT and can't stop the run.
They've said they will use 2 QBs again this week. Backup Jaxon Smolik was injured last week so that leaves freshman Bekkem Kritza or soph Jack Lambert. Maybe they should try him at LB, he couldn't be worse. If they insist on using 2 QB, I would hope the 2nd QB is a RB or WR running wildcat.
Interim coach Terry Smith has said they need to do a better job of vertical passing. Kotalniki's offense is all horizontal.
Ohio State has looked dominant, but they haven't really played anybody. Texas looks mid and were even more mid in week 1. The Ohio State defense has been unchallenged. They likely won't be challenged again this week. That defensive dominance has allowed OSU to stay simple on offense. It's like they're just practicing their run game because they have the game in hand and they know they can hit big plays with WRs if they need it.
Will Ryan Day try to run it up on Jim Knowles for spite?
I'm just hoping they play a tough game, show at least some life on offense and don't get pushed around on defense.

If you are wise you will listen to me
Who do you blame when your offense is crap?
Can't find the endzone if they gave you a map?
Blaming the kids is a lie and a shame
You know exactly who's to blame:
The OC's high school passing game
Oompa Loompa doompadee dah
Hire a good OC then you will go far
You will live in happiness too
Like the Oompa Loompa doompadee do
9 Vanderbilt at 20 Texas 12:00 ABC Tex -3.5
Vandy is still alive in the SEC and for a playoff spot. They just need to keep pace by putting down Texas like Old Yeller. Pavia could become the Heisman leader with a big game. Texas is coming off back to back OT wins vs Kentucky and Miss State who have a combined 0 SEC wins between them. There was a rumor Sark might want to go to the NFL. If he loses this game, his seat could get warm.
10 Miami at SMU 12:00 ESPN Mia -10.5
Miami was able to get right against Stanford after their debacle vs Louisville. SMU still only has 1 ACC loss but they looked like crap vs Wake Forest ion a loss. They could get overwhelmed by Miami's defense. This is Miami's first game outside of Florida.
Arizona State at Iowa State 1:00 TNT ISU -7.5
Has TNT had football all year? Matchup of 2 teams having disappointing seasons. Both head coaches are being rumored for other coaching jobs. ASU has lost 2 of the last 3 and ISU has lost 3 in a row.
Pitt at Stanford 3:30 ACCN Pitt -14.5
Pitt is still alive for the ACC. They've played much better with the freshman QB. Stanford is not good this year but this is a long road trip for Pitt. Will they be sluggish? They better hope they fare better than the Steelers do out west.
5 Georgia vs Florida in Jacksonville 3:30 ABC UGA -7.5
the World's Largest Outdoor Cocktail Party. Ex-Florida coach Billy Napier may enjoy a few cocktials during the game. Georgia players will enjoy some on their high speed drive home. Florida does have talent. Maybe the remaining coaches empty the bag and catch Georgia off guard.
South Carolina at 7 Ole Miss 7:00 ESPN Miss -12.5
South Carolina probably should have beaten Bama last week. They're still playing hard despite their season being a huge disappointment. Ole Miss only has 1 loss to Georgia but they've played several close ones. They escaped with a 3 point win against Wash State and a 5 point win vs LSU. This might be Ole Miss's last hurdle unless Florida shows life under interim coaches.
18 Oklahoma at 14 Tennessee 7:30 ABC Tenn -2.5
both teams have 2 losses so this is pretty much a playoff elimination game. Oklahoma has been up and down. They have a rough finish @ Tenn, @Bama, Mizz and LSU. They're new to the SEC so they didn't schedule they November cupcake. Ten gets New Mexico State next week.
23 USC at Nebraska 7:30 NBC USC -4.5
Matt Rhule signed an extension to stay at Nebraska. Nebraska's offense is good statistically but isn't always reliable. USC has the #1 offense in the nation and 5th in scoring at 42 pts per game. Nebraska's offense will have to step up to keep pace. Nebraska's 5 star QB Dylan Raiola has had his moments but hasn't had many wow games. This could be a good opportunity in a game that could be high scoring.
Washington State at Oregon State 7:30 CBS
I suppose this is the Pac 12 championship since these are the only 2 team in the Pac 12 conference.
17 Cincinnati at 24 Utah 10:15 ESPN Utah -10.5
a ranked nightcap game is always good if you can stay awake. Cincy is unbeaten in the Big 12. They've played a pretty easy schedule so far. Utah only has 1 loss and this is their last tough game. The winner of this one is in good position to play for the Big 12 Championship.
