College Football Week 5

Well hopefully he can get healed up soon. Got Auburn&Florida as the biggest challenges left on the schedule. I wouldn't sleep on Kentucky either.
JT is our best option, but the guy seem hurt a lot. I have faith in the season though. Especially that defense

Stanford seems to exist to screw over the Pac 12. How many times over the years have they dealt a loss to the top rated team and kept them from a championship? Pac 12 is probably out of the playoff now with Oregon losing and UCLA with a loss.

Alabama and Georgia are pretty much both in the playoff already. They don't play each other in regular season. They will likely meet in a completely meaningless SEC championship game where the loser will still get in the playoff.

So that cuts out the Pac 12. The ACC is likely done too with Clemson and UNC both 2 losses already. Wake Forest is still unbeaten but i doubt they run the table. Notre Dame is likely done with the loss to Cincy. They don't have anybody else ranked on their schedule to make up ground.

Cincy will get in but they probably have to go unbeaten. If they lose 1, they're likely out. Same with Oklahoma who has struggled.

So you will have 2 SEC and the Big 10 champ. That seems a lock.

The 4th team looks like it will be, in order
Unbeaten Cincy
Unbeaten Oklahoma
Second Big Ten team.

cincy's only prayer is running the table and having a few others fall to the wayside

the rest of the AAC schedule isn't that tough since they miss out on UH this year

He got knocked out the last drive
And your team just squeaked by them so what’s that say about them?

that they played like **** on the road in week 1 and still won the game because Jaquan Brisker is a bad ************

normally i would say Cincy needs help but this year they may control their own fate. Oklahoma struggled again and Oregon lost. I have a feeling Cincy will be 5 on Monday. Penn State and Iowa will probably be 3 and 4 and they play next week so the loser will drop a few. Cincy will probably be #4 after next weekend.

Oklahoma has not looked good and they have the history of getting blown out in the playoff. I think this will be the year they give Cincy the nod over a possibly unbeaten Oklahoma.

Cincy does have to go unbeaten though. Usually for non power 5, that's not enough but this year it could be.

Went to the Penn State game last night. Crazy atmosphere.

The offense was atrocious last night. Nothing really that Indiana did. Play calling was questionable at best, and execution was worse. That defense is for real. Lots of good players. Outside corners can be had a time or two per game, but they are solid top to bottom.

Penn State is in for serious trouble against Iowa - or OSU, Michigan, Michigan State - unless they get the running game fixed. Don't know if that's doable but they always seemed to have a solid running back. Not this year.

I was going to say the same thing. In all their games, even against scrub teams, their run game is basically non-existent. That won't work in the heart of their Big 10 schedule. Their QB isn't good enough to win games every week against their competition coming up. I'm not sure why their running game is so bad. Cain was decent when he ran last year. If he's that bad this year, they need to bring in a freshman or someone else. I don't think it's the line. They seem to do OK with the passing game and when the QB has run the past couple games.

Agreed....is he in the Steeler future QB conversation?
I like him and he has a ton of experience and can make just about every throw. I don’t know if he’s a true franchise QB, but he should have a very long NFL career.

What about the C A T S, CATS! CATS! CATS!
He got knocked out the last drive

Wisconsin's QB got knocked out early in the 2nd half. maybe the 1st drive of the 2nd half. Wisconsin might suck, but it still felt like a big win for Michigan. Jury is still out.

Who cares about JV football?
If Western Ky had any defense, they might have made a legit run at MSU. We just don't have the horses, or at least not as many. We did get 1.5 million bucks for that game, so it wasn't a complete loss.

Does it really matter, he had one frickin TD pass coming into the game, making it out like he’s a big time QB

And as a huge UK basketball fan it’s great to see Mark Stoops and the football team do well!

Yeah, I don't know anything about him or the guy that replaced him. I guess in theory you never want to lose you're starting QB, unless it's a Drew Bledsoe/Tom Brady scenario.

They changed blocking schemes. I posted a video on the run game in another thread because it also applies to the steelers who are going through the same issues. The video was a coach breaking down how the run game is sputtering because some plays an OL messes up, some a TE misses and block and some the RB picks the wrong hole.

PSU has several good backs but not a great one. The OL struggled a few years ago but guys like Saquon and Miles Sanders were elusive enough to overcome it.

It felt to me like PSU was running a practice for much of the Indiana game. They really want to get that run game going. I don't recall any deep shots in the game. When they went up 14-0 i think they knew Indiana would have trouble scoring anything at all, so they worked on the run game.

New poll is out. Iowa jumped PSU, which is not a huge surprise because Iowa had a very impressive game on Friday. They threw the ball a lot and had a bunch of explosive plays.

1 Alabama
2 Georgia - should be #1
3 Iowa
4 Penn State
5 Oklahoma
6 Cincinnati
7 Ohio State
8 Michigan
9 Oregon
10 BYU

Cincy is getting screwed. Oklahoma has looked like **** almost every week. They had a struggle again this week vs Kansas State.

Actually Cincy is 5 in the new AP. ESPN had it wrong an hour ago, but it's updated now.

1 Alabama
2 Georgia - should still be #1
3 Iowa
4 Penn State
5 Cincinnati
6 Oklahoma
7 Ohio State
8 Oregon
9 Michigan
10 BYU

I have a bad feeling about the Iowa game. And they did run the ball better last night but like you said it has to be a LOT better to beat the rest of the big 10 schedule.

I see 1 or 2 losses out of those 4. Maybe first one this week.

They had 102 yards rushing at about three minutes into the second quarter. The problem is the play calling. 90% of their runs started horizontally out of the shotgun. They don't have a RB fast enough to beat LB's to the edge. Every time they ran vertically from under center they were gaining chunks, including a 44 yarder. Sadly, they only ran it that way 4-5 times.

they run a lot of wide zone, which means that in theory every run could go up the middle. The RB is supposed to choose to take it up the middle, off tackle or all the way around the edge. Some of the RBs are trying to break everything outside when there may have been a crease inside.

They aren't looking for creases inside. It's easy to see. They get the ball and they are looking for the edge. They aren't fast enough to get there. Period.
