College Game Thread Week 1

A little lightning didn't faze us at all......WAR EAGLE!!!!!!!

Bama's D has several new staters and their captain was suspended for this game. They looked terrible in the first half but as Saban does, they adjusted well at half time and only gave up 2 fgs in the 2nd half. They gave up,only one offensive td in the game. They have some work to do and Blake Sims played better than I expected. He looked fine throwing from the pocket and had good pocket presence, avoiding some sacks, but he looked terrible throwing on the run. Missed open guys because of bad mechanics when throwing on the run.

2 100yd rushers, a 100 yd receiver, and over 500 yards of offense. Not a bad start for the new QB "managing the game."

I found LSU and Wisconsin to be very evenly matched. If they played 10 times I think they would split 5-5.

Frankly, Wisconsin should be kicking themselves for losing that game, up 24-7. They will look back on that one and grimace all year. LSU's QB is awful. It's clear, however, that some teams know how to finish and close the deal better than others.

Bama is no juggernaut this year by any means. They made enough plays to win, but they didn't impress me in the least. That unsportsmanlike call on the sideline was as bad as any bullshit roughing call they make on Sunday's. It gifted them another first down when they would have been punting and completely changed the momentum swing that was happening. The only thing that stopped WVU's offense was WVU and their inability to catch the damn ball. In spite of a huge difference in talent level they struggled to get it done. Anyone who thinks different either watched a different game, or needs glasses.

The SEC has been the best conference for a nice long stretch recently, you get no argument from me. First week or not, the whole playoff thing is wide open from what I saw this weekend of the usual top teams.

Georgia looked good - can we trade our starting RB for Gurley? - what a beast!

The Big Ten looks like the Big Ten. I see one relevant team there.

You have big issue with the big 10. I love the big 10. I love smash mouth football and good defense. I don't care for most of the other conferences due to the fact most play you score I score and forget about defense.

Who is playing defense in the big ten? Outside of Michigan State I don't see a real defense in the entire conference. In the conference finals last year the score was 34-24 with over 800 yards of offense. Hardly a defensive struggle. The year before the score was 70-34. I don't get the defense you're talking about.

Michigan State is the one team with a defense in the Big Ten that's even close. The fact that their offense will be able to contribute this year makes them awful tough. Fortunately we will see what the losses of Dennard, Allen and Bullough mean to them this coming weekend against Oregon. That game might be a shootout.

Defense is on the rebound. The bid 10 has had its share of problems the last few years as we all know. However it is on the mend and look for it to be what it use to be in the next few years.

Believe it or not, Big Ten fans.....I am actually pulling for MSU in that game.

I still like to see traditional football whip this spread crap. That's why I like watching Stanford, Alabama, and other teams like them do well.

If you admit the Big Ten has sucked lately, then how do I have issues? I assure you I'm far from the only individual to notice their shittiness.

And I don't think anyone produces more smashmouth NFLers - or any NFLers - than the SEC.

My sentiments exactly.

How do you know this? Big 10 defense has sucked for years. Have you seen the *** kicking they've gotten in the national championship games against SEC teams? I don't see anything on the horizon that would make me think they are going to be a group of good defensive teams this year or any future year.
